When you have a cold it can wipe you out.
Take it from me, it’s evident in the body! Often I find the whole back feel tense and stiff- like the body is run down.
Truth be told it is, it’s still in recovery mode even when the classical symptoms of cold virus reduces.
🫶🏽The extra rest and sleep we need can leave us stiff. Periods of inactivity, limited exercise, reduction of our normal day to day activities (even if just for a day).
Cold virus symptoms it’s self can run its toll on our bodies.
💚Coughs can cause intercostal & diaphragm (the muscles in between our ribs & the large muscle in our chest than enables breathing) strain not to mention a sore throat from aggressive coughing/ bringing up phlegm, and the position we adopt when coughing - which is often hunched over is very strenuous for our bodies.
💚Sinus infections can leave us feeling ‘bunged up’ this leads to tight and tender facial muscles which can extend all the way to our necks and shoulders (think of our lymphatic drianage paths) it’s all connected.
💚Headaches, ‘fuzzy or heavy heads’ adds a lot of tension to our temporal muscles, occipital muscles (the muscles and the back of our skull), and trazepious muscles (shoulder muscles) just to name few.
Once our body has fought the virus (common cold) we are often left with this pressure in our spines that can linger and leave us still feeling ‘wiped out’
