We look at the individual’s overall lifestyle from exercise, nutrition to general health and wellbeing to get to the root of the issue. We offer a multidisciplinary service and are much more than just ‘manual therapy’.

Alex and the team of practitioners are active in both research and lecturing. “I’ve been receiving treatment from Penn Clinic since I was 13 years old. I was a dancer seeking relief for tension headaches. I have been treated by a number of practitioners at Penn and have left extremely happy with each of them. I have since stopped dance but I continue to receive treatment here :)”.

Pain on the outside of your hips? You might be dealing with gluteal pain syndrome.

This pesky condition causes pain in the buttocks. It can make sitting, standing, and even walking a real drag. But before you resign yourself to a life of couch potato-ing, there’s good news!

What is gluteal pain syndrome?

It’s an overuse injury of the tendons and muscles around the hip joint.

What are the symptoms?

Pain in the buttocks
Tenderness to the touch
Difficulty sitting, standing, and walking

What can you do?

Rest: Give your glutes a break for a few days
Stretch and strengthen: Gentle stretches and targeted exercises can help improve flexibility and strength.
See an osteopath : They can diagnose the problem and create a personalized treatment plan.
Warm up before exercise: Don’t jump into your workout cold.
Listen to your body: If something hurts, stop!
Wear supportive shoes: Proper footwear can make a big difference.

Don’t let gluteal pain keep you from living your best life! Get to the root of the problem and get back to doing what you love.

How we can help…

* Holistic approach: Osteopaths see the body as a connected system, treating not just the symptoms but also the underlying causes of pain.
* Manual therapy: Gentle manipulations and stretches can help release tension felt in the muscles, ligaments, and fascia around your pelvis, improving blood flow.
* Improved pelvic floor function: Osteopaths can help you to strengthen and relax your pelvic floor muscles, which can be crucial for managing pain during periods and intimacy.
‍* Targeted exercises: A pelvic health therapist will design a personalized program of exercises to improve your core strength and flexibility, which can contribute to pain relief.
* Self-management tools: You’ll learn techniques like breathwork, relaxation, and massage to manage pain flares at home.
* Scar tissue release: If you’ve had surgery for endometriosis, we can help to restore tissue mobility, potentially reducing pain

All of this together can:

* Reduce pain intensity and frequency
* Improve quality of life
* Reduced dependence on medication

❗️ Important to remember:
* Osteopathy and physiotherapy are complementary therapies, not replacements for medical care.
* Not all osteopaths or physiotherapists specialize in endometriosis. Look for someone with experience in treating pelvic pain conditions.

Remember, you’re not alone in this. With the right support you can find ways to manage your endometriosis.
