🦷 Severe overbite, severe tooth-wear, bruxism,
staining, micro fractures, failed composites, failed history of bonding, poor enamel, jaw ache.
👨🦳 68 year old male: Primary aim to open his bite to allow him to get an implant to replace his LR6. Secondary aim to protect his fracturing teeth long term and improve aesthetics without going down the route of orthodontics.
⚙️ All options were discussed from composite, veneers, crowns and orthodontics. A combination of composite ano crowns was planned to strengthen his teeth, balance his bite, reduce his overbite by 3mm.
🛠️ Treatment completed over 4 months. His bite dramatically improved, for the first time now biting on his back and front teeth equally, reducing irregular load. A minimal prep of 0.5mm inter-proximally and no occlusal preparation allowed for his overbite to reduce by 3mm, opening space successfully for an implant in the LRQ.
📈8 month review photos, patient is extremely happy, continues to wear his night-guard, regularly attends a hygienist, smiles and compliments galore and more importantly no jaw pain!
