Seeing residents pursue their passions, express themselves creatively and achieve something they can proudly call their own is what supported living is all about.

Two residents at our supported living service, Windsor House, have released their very first album together!

Performing as the band ‘Bad Publicity’, Jason and Alan have collaborated on “Thank My Lucky Stars” - a unique and powerful collection of original songs blending their very different musical styles. Jason brings the energy of hard/death metal, while Alan’s sound leans more towards pop, creating an album that’s diverse, creative and full of personality.

You can listen to the music on Alan’s YouTube channel, Dioclesion Records.

Huge congratulations to Jason and Alan on this fantastic achievement - we can’t wait to see what’s next for Bad Publicity!

We’re proud to share that Nouvita has been shortlisted as a Finalist at the HealthInvestor Awards 2026 in the 'Complex Care Provider of the Year – Small Group' category.

This recognition reflects the work our teams do every day to support individuals whose needs are often described as “too complex” - people who may have experienced repeated placement breakdowns, prolonged hospital stays or highly restrictive environments.

What sets us apart is our ability to adapt. As needs change, whether through ageing, physical deterioration, fluctuating mental health or evolving personal priorities, our services evolve too. We focus on maintaining stability, reducing restrictive practice and preventing avoidable hospital readmission, while keeping the person at the centre of every decision.

The HealthInvestor Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement across the UK health and social care sector, and to be recognised among the very best in the industry is something we are incredibly proud of.

Most importantly, this shortlist is a testament to the compassion, resilience and clinical expertise of our teams across all services.

We look forward to celebrating with peers on 9th June, and whatever the outcome, we’re already proud of what this represents.

Well done, Team Nouvita!

This week, Howe Dell Manor was filled with the wonderful aromas, colours and flavours of Sri Lanka as we hosted a special Sri Lankan Food Day for residents and staff.

Food has a unique way of bringing people together, and the day was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate culture, share stories and try something new. From flavourful curries to traditional sides and sweet treats, the menu offered a vibrant and nourishing experience that was enjoyed by all who took part.

For our residents, events like this are about more than just the meal itself. They create moments of connection, spark conversation, encourage choice and add variety to everyday life, all of which play an important role in wellbeing.

A big thank you to everyone involved in preparing, organising and embracing the day. It was a celebration of culture, community and togetherness, and a reminder of how powerful shared experiences can be.

This week at Eltisley Manor, our meal partner Apetito, visited to host a taster session, giving residents the opportunity to sample a range of nutritious main meals and desserts, while also demonstrating to staff how dishes can be attractively and thoughtfully presented.

Balanced, nourishing meals play an important role in both physical and mental wellbeing. Having variety, flavour and choice helps make mealtimes something to look forward to; supporting appetite, social interaction and overall health.

The session was attended by a large majority of residents and staff, who embraced the occasion by turning it into a Chinese New Year celebration. The atmosphere was full of curiosity, conversation and enjoyment, with residents sharing feedback, discovering new favourites and enjoying the social experience just as much as the food itself.

A big thank you to Apetito for an engaging and informative visit, and to our residents and team for making it such a positive and inclusive celebration.

This month’s Baldock Brilliance award goes to Dr Dan, our SHO at Baldock Manor Hospital.

Dr Dan is consistently professional, calm and dependable in everything he does. Whether he’s reviewing patients, supporting the multidisciplinary team or responding to urgent situations, he brings a steady presence that reassures both colleagues and service users alike.

What truly stands out is the way he connects with the people in our care. Dr Dan takes the time to listen, explain and make individuals feel comfortable and respected; something that makes a real difference, particularly in a PICU and Acute environment where compassion and clarity matter so much.

He is responsive, efficient and always willing to go the extra mile, contributing not just clinically but culturally, bringing positivity and light wherever he is in the hospital.

Dr Dan, thank you for your dedication, professionalism and the warmth you bring to Baldock Manor. It’s a pleasure working alongside you, and this recognition is very well deserved. 👏

Amman, a student nurse completing her placement at Howe Dell Manor has provided some wonderful feedback about her experience with her assessor:

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have had my practice assessor, Lillian, during this placement. From the start, she created a supportive environment where I felt confident to ask questions, reflect, and develop my skills. What really stood out was how she consistently taught the importance of compassion for service users, showing me how small acts of kindness and understanding can make a real difference in patient care.

She always went the extra mile, whether it was taking time to explain complex procedures, giving thoughtful feedback, or checking in on my progress. Her guidance was honest, encouraging, and delivered with genuine care, which helped me grow both professionally and personally.

I am truly grateful for Lillian’s mentorship. She has been an inspiring role model, and her dedication, compassion, and commitment to going above and beyond have had a lasting impact on my development as a student nurse.”

Positive feedback is always great to receive, but when its part of helping the next generation and being able to support them in the early days of their career, it’s even better.

Whether you’re looking for a great place for your student nurse placement, or a newly qualified nurse looking for your first nursing role, speak to us and see how we can support your nursing career.

For Random Act of Kindness week, Baldock Manor placed a ‘kindness tree’ for staff to write messages of appreciation and kindness about colleagues – and it has bloomed!

Seeing that someone has recognised the little things that we do, means the world and is a gesture of recognition that can make the difference.

The kindness tree has created a ripple of appreciation for the acts of kindness that happen at Baldock Manor every day. The tree has been blossoming with staff from all departments and shifts being included in the mentions and adding the kindness appreciation tags.

Hospital Director, Ambrose commented “how happy I am with how the team have embraced this week. So much so, that we are going to keep our tree up all month, to allow our kindness tree to become a forest of throughout Baldock”.

It’s wonderful to see so much kindness and recognition of the little things that matter. Well done team Baldock, once again your team spirit and culture shine through with positivity and warmth.

In times of crisis and beyond, people need more than a placement. They need safety, understanding and hope. At Baldock Manor Hospital, our recovery-focused inpatient services provide high-quality care in a protective, therapeutic environment, delivered by a team committed to doing the right thing for every individual.

This isn’t just about finding a bed.

It’s about finding the right bed. Where you can be confident your patient will be cared for safely, compassionately and with their best interests at heart.

Baldock Manor’s PICU service has achieved QNPICU accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, becoming the first independent single-site provider to receive this recognition from its peers.

This sits alongside our recent ‘Good’ rating from the CQC, which reflects not only compliance, but a genuinely positive and safety-focused culture. The CQC noted:

“Staff supported peoples’ right to live in safety, free from avoidable harm and made sure they shared concerns quickly and appropriately.”

And:

“The service had a proactive and positive culture of safety based on openness and honesty, in which concerns about safety are listened to, safety events are investigated and reported thoroughly, and lessons are learned to continually identify and embed good practices.”

These findings speak to the environment we work hard to create — one built on transparency, learning, strong clinical governance and continuous improvement.

Most importantly, this is reflected in the experiences of those we support. One service user shared:

“I’ve been to many hospitals and I’ve never experienced the levels of engagement and support that I have on this ward.”

At Nouvita, we understand that PICU and Acute placements are often complex and time-critical. Our focus is on delivering clinically robust, person-centred care within a positive culture that promotes recovery, reduces restrictive practice and supports safe step-down planning from day one.

If you’re in need of a provider that you can trust, get in touch and learn how Nouvita Healthcare can support your current and future pathway needs.

Flipping fantastic fun across Nouvita yesterday! Teams and residents from across our services came together to celebrate Pancake Day; mixing batter, choosing toppings and, of course, enjoying the finished results. From classic lemon and sugar to some more creative combinations, there was plenty of laughter (and a little friendly competition!) along the way.

Moments like this are about more than just food. They’re about culture, community and creating positive shared experiences that bring people together. Seeing residents get involved, make choices and enjoy the occasion alongside staff made it a really special day across our services.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success – we’re already looking forward to next year!

We’re incredibly proud to share that Baldock Manor’s PICU service has achieved Quality Network for Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (QNPICU) accreditation.

This accreditation recognises the dedication, professionalism and compassion shown every day by our teams in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. It reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care.

Even more significantly, this makes us the first independent single-site PICU provider in the UK to achieve this standard.

A huge thank you to every member of the Baldock team, this achievement belongs to you.
