Our residents settled in for another epic screening this week, complete with comfy chairs, classic films, and popcorn that mysteriously disappears faster than we can serve it.

There was laughter, gasps, debates over who the villain really was — and one or two nodding off during the slow bits (we won’t name names, but they know who they are).

At Hatfield Manor, movie night isn’t just about the film — it’s about the shared stories, the running commentary, and the joy of watching together. We may not have red carpets, but we’ve definitely got five-star company.

This week at Hatfield Manor, we put our coordination — and sense of humour — to the test with a good old-fashioned skipping challenge.

Residents and staff gave it their all, with plenty of concentration, a few near misses, and lots of laughter. Some claimed to be ‘warming up’, others insisted they were demonstrating advanced technique (mainly standing still and offering encouragement).

Who knew a skipping rope could bring so much joy — and just a touch of competitive spirit?

A fun way to stay active, get moving, and prove that balance, bravery and a bit of bounce are alive and well at Hatfield Manor.

There’s nothing quite like the taste of summer – especially when it’s homegrown.

At Hatfield Manor, our residents have been busy tending to our very own vegetable garden, and now it’s time to enjoy the fruits (and veg!) of their labour. From crisp lettuce and juicy tomatoes to freshly picked herbs, we’ve been creating delicious, garden-to-table salads that are as fresh as they come.

It’s more than just a meal – it’s the joy of nurturing something from seed to plate, the satisfaction of shared effort, and a tasty reminder that some of the best ingredients are grown with care and pride, right here at home.

At Hatfield Manor, when a wish goes up on our Wishing Tree, we do everything we can to make it come true — even if that means bringing the thrills of a theme park indoors.

One of our residents wished to visit a theme park, so we brought the full 4D experience right to their doorstep. With motion seats, wind effects, sound, and visuals, they got all the excitement of rollercoasters and rides — without ever leaving the comfort of Hatfield Manor!

Laughter, cheers, and a few delighted screams filled the room as residents took part in this immersive experience. It was a day full of wonder, joy, and proof that you’re never too old for a bit of theme park magic.

Just another example of how we turn wishes into reality — with care, creativity and a touch of Hatfield Manor sparkle.

A very special celebration at Hatfield Manor this week, as we marked the anniversary of our much-loved Bishops Walk household.

Today, our residents enjoyed a refreshing activity – making their own homemade lemonade. There were lively discussions about the perfect amount of sugar, plenty of tasting (purely for quality control), and lots of laughter throughout.

We like to think of it as lemonade with character – made with care, good humour, and a little luxury.

From crisp cucumbers to sweet cherry tomatoes and fragrant herbs, everything has been lovingly grown and freshly harvested on-site. It doesn’t get more local than this!

Blooming lovely!

This week at Hatfield Manor, our residents got creative with a relaxing and colourful flower arranging session. With a table full of fresh blooms, the room was quickly filled with beautiful scents, bright colours, and plenty of smiles.

Everyone brought their own flair to their arrangements – from elegant and symmetrical to wild and wonderfully free! As always, the conversation flowed as freely as the flowers, with memories shared, tips exchanged, and a few jokes along the way.

There’s something so joyful about working with nature’s beauty – and the finished displays have truly brightened up the home.

Books, biscuits, and a bit of healthy debate!

Book Club was back in full swing this week at Hatfield Manor – and as always, it was far from quiet! With tea in hand and biscuits at the ready, our residents dove into this month’s read and didn’t hold back.

There were strong opinions, a few plot twists no one saw coming, and even a moment where we all agreed (briefly). Whether you’d read every page or just came for the biscuits, everyone had something to say – and that’s what makes it so much fun.

We love how Book Club brings people together – for the stories, the company, and the occasional dramatic reading!
