Perhaps feeling like you don’t ‘fit in’. People seeking an assessment might often feel very socially anxious or worry a lot about their social interactions. Maybe you feel more sensitive to your environment than other people and at times overwhelmed, overloaded and exhausted by the demands of everyday life. You might also have noticed strengths that your ‘difference’ brings- being able to ‘hyper’
focus, having dedicated interests and passions or strong values such as a concern for truth and social justice. You might have started to wonder about neurodiversity. At Hope Valley Psychology we want to work with you to help make sense of and understand your experiences. We aim to support you to lead the life you value, to find ways to cope with the stress and overwhelm that living in a neurotypical world can bring. We are experienced consultant clinical psychologists with many years of working within NHS services. We continually update our knowledge learning from people who are neurodivergent. We are trained in the recommended "gold standard" assessments and follow best practice guidance. Our value base is the most important part of what we provide at Hope Valley Psychology. We want to work in partnership with you, aiming to deliver our services in ways that people feel comfortable, valued and respected. We offer Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments to adults. This involves completing pre assessment questionnaires, meeting in person or online and sometimes talking with someone who has known you for several years or since childhood. We aim to make the assessment process as comfortable and straightforward as possible, taking into account any sensory needs you have or the need for breaks and processing time. We offer our assessments over two 2 hour appointments. It is important for us to know that people can return for support post diagnosis if they want to. This can be a 'one off' additional meeting or a block of meetings aimed at supporting people to consider their lives in the context of a new diagnosis, helping them to move forward with new understandings and self compassion. We are flexible and want this service to fit what you need. We are trained in a number of psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and draw upon Compassionate Focussed Therapy (CFT), Systemic narrative therapies and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). We look forward to hearing from you! Dr Sarah Rodgers and Dr Katherine Hildyard
