🌊🌸 Our Beach Garden is Complete! 🌸🌊

We’re so excited to share that our Beach Garden project is now finished here at Portsdown View 🏖️✨

This special space has been designed with our residents in mind – bringing the seaside closer to home with soft sands, coastal plants, and a peaceful spot to relax. It’s already proving to be a wonderful place for reminiscence, gentle strolls, and simply enjoying the sunshine. ☀️💙

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this dream a reality – from our amazing staff and volunteers to the families and friends who supported the project. Especially Our amazing events coordinator Taz who spent alot of time making it happen🌼🙌

We can’t wait to see our residents making new happy memories in the garden. 🌊🏡

🍽️✨ Pub Lunch Outing with Our wonderful Residents ✨🍽️

Yesterday enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the red lion sharing delicious food, lots of laughter, and plenty of stories with our lovely residents. 💛

Outings like these are such a special way to spend time together outside the home — a chance to relax, chat, and create happy memories. 🌟

A big thank you to the pub staff for looking after us so well, and to our amazing team for making it all possible. 🥰

🌊⚓ Exciting News from Portsdown View Care Home ! ⚓🌊

Our residents, staff, and community volunteers have been working together to create a beautiful nautical seaside-themed garden 🏖️🐚. From lighthouses, shipwrecks, painted pebbles, bunting, and even wire sculptures of a seagull and mermaid 🧜‍♀️🐦, the creativity has been amazing!

A huge thank you to B&Q for their support 🛠️ – and to our brilliant youth community volunteers who helped with the digging, laying sand and pebbles, and bringing our ideas to life 🙌.

This project has been proudly led by our amazing Events Team coordinator Taz 💙, and it has already brought so much joy to our home. Residents, families, and staff are already taking walks around the garden and can’t wait to see the final seaside backdrop arrive 🌈✨.

We’re so proud of this vibrant new corner of the garden that celebrates teamwork, creativity, community spirit 🌟 and mostly another sensory station for our residential, respite and dementia residents.
In the meantime, residents and volunteers have been busy with creative in-house projects 🎨, including:

Making lighthouses 🏮

Building an old shipwreck 🚢

Painting pebbles 🎨🪨

Crafting life buoys 🛟

Creating bunting 🎏 and other decorations

All of these handmade items have been varnished 🪵✨ by volunteers to make them waterproof.

Working on wire models of a seagull 🐦 and mermaid 🧜‍♀️ (to be completed soon)

🌅✨ Portsdown View Care Home , always going that extra mile!

This week, we shared a wonderful adventure with Mike. 🦉🌿 His passion for bird watching inspired us, and it turned into such a heartfelt topic of conversation. We couldn’t wait to turn that passion into something special… so we organised an early morning bird-watching escape out in the community. 🌳🐦

Mike’s face lit up as the memories came flooding back, and it was truly fulfilling to see him engaged, curious, and happy once again. 💛 Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. 💫

🎪✨ A Huge THANK YOU ✨🎪

On Saturday 16th, we had the most magical day here at Portsdown View Care Home with our Circus Summer Event featuring the amazing Hula Chichi! 🌞🤹‍♀️🎉

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the day so special — our wonderful residents, their families and friends, our dedicated staff, and all the fantastic stallholders and entertainers who joined us. 💕🙌 Your support, energy and kindness turned it into such a memorable success.

This special event also marked the start of our fundraising for a community defibrillator ❤️⚡️, something very close to our hearts. The fundraiser is still ongoing, and every bit of support helps us reach our goal to keep our community safe.

From the laughter to the music, to the joy shared all around, we couldn’t have done it without you all.

🚤💨 When Dreams Meet Waves – John’s Big Adventure! 💨🚤

At Connaught Care, we believe age is just a number — and our residents prove it every day! 💪✨
Meet John, 92 years young, and still chasing speed. John whose love for speed has never slowed down, is never stopping. Just two years ago, he was soaring through the skies ✈️ flying a plane. Last week? He traded wings for waves and took on his long-time dream of speed boating! 🌊🏁

With the eagerness in his heart and pure excitement in his eyes, John showed us all that thrill has no age limit. The smile on his face as he conquered the water said it all — dreams don’t expire, and neither does adventure. 🙌

A huge thank you to our incredible personal trainer Darin for being right there with John, making sure this dream became a reality. 🙏💙

✨🐥 It’s hard to believe it’s been over 3 months since something truly special happened at Portsdown View Care Home !

We were overjoyed to welcome some very adorable guests back to our home — and our residents were absolutely enchanted. From carefully watching over the eggs, witnessing them hatch into fluffy ducklings, and now seeing them grown into healthy, happy ducks 🦆💛 … what a journey it has been!

The excitement, the smiles, and the energy they brought filled every corner of our home. This experience created a wave of joy, connection, and shared memories that we will treasure forever.

At Connaught Care Group, as part of our Pet Therapy programmes 🐾, these moments aren’t just fun — they play a vital role in improving mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Pet therapy can reduce stress and anxiety, boost mood, encourage gentle physical activity, improve social interaction, and offer comfort and companionship… especially for our residents.

And this week’s special visitors — our grown-up ducklings — were no exception! 🦆🦆

🌟 What an unforgettable week we've had here at Portsdown View Care Home ! 🌟

The energy has been sky-high with not just one, but TWO exciting outings for our amazing residents 🎉✨

💙 One of our trips started with a warm get-together with our wonderful friends from Waterhaven Place Care Home . We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Brasserie 🍽️ before heading off to the thrilling horse races at Goodwood 🐎 – a day full of laughter, cheers, and fantastic memories!

🍻 Meanwhile, another group of residents took a delightful stroll to our neighbours at the The Centurion Pub, where a delicious lunch awaited 🍔, followed by a trip to Chichester Theatre to watch the heartwarming and inclusive Dementia Friendly performance of "Top Hat" 🎭 – and it was simply magical!

These outings are about so much more than just a day out – they’re about inclusion, joy, connection, and the extraordinary care and support that define life at Portsdown View ❤️
