Incredible Success Story – ARYA 🩺🩵🩻🫀😍

Arya began her journey as a tiny stray kitten, found alone and brought into The Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre for help. It quickly became clear that something was seriously wrong. Arya arrived to us with a severe case of pectus excavatum — her sternum curved so deeply that the tip of her xiphoid process sat less than 1 cm from her vertebrae. X-rays showed her heart was significantly displaced to the left.

Given the severity of her condition, we moved quickly. Under general anaesthesia, our specialist surgical team fitted a custom sternal splint. Sutures were carefully passed under her sternal bones, allowing us to lift and reshape her deformed rib cage.

Arya healed beautifully. Her breathing improved, her comfort increased, and she now enjoys a far better quality of life. She charmed everyone involved in her care — so much so that one of the team members fell in love with her and adopted her ✨

Thank you to The Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre for giving her a chance and to everyone involved in her care!🏥🐱

Angiostrongylus vasorum 🫁🪱

Lungworms are parasites that can live in a dog's heart and the blood vessels of the lungs, causing symptoms like coughing, breathing difficulties, weight loss, and bleeding disorders. Dogs get infected by accidentally eating infected slugs or snails, or by ingesting their slime trails, which can happen when they eat grass, drink from puddles, or play outdoors.

🩸 This dog tested positive for Lungworm.

👁️ Did you know?

German Shepherds are prone to hip and elbow dysplasia. This affects joint alignment and can cause arthritis or pain later on in life.
This can be prevented by ensuring your selected breeder has had hip and elbow score evaluations prior to breeding. You can also check your pets parents score evaluations with the breeder if possible.

🌟 Meet Lass! 🌟

Lass is a beautiful 5-year-old Greyhound currently being cared for by HRH Romford Retired Greyhounds. Her carers noticed she was struggling to see on her left side, so she visited Dr. Gemma Turner at Optivet Referrals.

After some careful testing, Lass was diagnosed with a retinal detachment in her left eye. Thanks to Dr. Gemma Turner and Dr. Rob Lowe — one of Europe’s leading specialists in this surgery — Lass had a successful retinal reattachment procedure. 👏💙

Almost 3 months later, Lass is thriving! She’s got her confidence (and her sight!) back and is enjoying life with her loving carers. 🐾💫

She’ll stay with them a little longer, but soon she’ll be ready to find her forever home. 🏡💖

If you are interested in rehoming Lass - please contact

We’re so proud of you, Lass — you’re a superstar! 🌈🐶

🐾 Breed of the Week: French Bulldog✨

The funny and forgiving foodie that is the Frenchie🩵

👁️ Did you know French Bulldogs have two different types of ears?

'Bat Ears' are the classic upright, rounded at the top ears and classed as the official French Bulldog ear.
Whereas, 'Rose Ears' that fold back slightly ,(similarly to English Bulldogs) are less commonly seen.

What ear type does your fur baby have?👂🐾

💙🐾Meet Karrianne and Richmond🐾💙

Karrianne is one our wonderful Registered Veterinary Nurses🌟 🐾

When she isn't buzzing around the wards and theatres of our practice, you'll find her up in the air practicing pole and aerial hoop fitness - or whipping up treats in the kitchen!🧁

And while mum is in the air, much lower to the ground you'll find miniature dachshund Richmond snoozing and shredding toys- particularly squeaky ones!🧸

In future, Karrianne would like to focus on gaining her certificate in nursing anaesthesia🩺

What role on our team would you like to know about next? 🐾

🖤🐾 Happy National Black Cat Day!🐾🖤

Today we celebrate the sleek, mysterious, and utterly charming black cats that are always our shadow❤

🐈‍⬛ Did You Know?

Black cats are less likely to be adopted than cats of other colours, often due to old superstitions or myths.
In many cultures, they’re seen as symbols of luck and prosperity — especially in the UK and Japan!
Their glossy coats aren’t all the same shade — under sunlight, you can often see rich browns, blues, and even hints of rust.

🩺 Black cats are every bit as unique and lovable as their more colourful counterparts — and just as cute!
Routine health checks help detect hidden issues early, keeping these gorgeous felines healthy and happy for years to come.

🖤🐾 Share a photo of your black cat and tag us — we’d love to see them!
