Please follow the guidance below from Hywel Dda Health Board in relation to meningitis B queries.

We know that there is considerable concern around the localised outbreak of Meningitis B (Men B) in Kent. The situation is being monitored closely by our colleagues at Public Health Wales and there is currently no evidence of increased risk to anyone in the Hywel Dda area.

Men B vaccination has been part of the routine childhood vaccine schedule since 2015.

Based on the NHS policy - Men B vaccination is not routinely available to older children or adults, and this remains unchanged.
Please do not contact the health board or your GP for Men B vaccination for children over two years of age.

If your child is 12-24 months and has not received three doses of Men B vaccine your GP surgery may be able to provide the vaccine as part of a catch-up programme. Please see social media or webpage information for your GP surgery to see whether they are contacting eligible patients or advising you to contact them.
The Meningitis ACWY (Men ACWY) vaccine is currently being offered to 13-14 year olds, in schools by the school nursing teams. All school children who have missed their vaccination opportunity will be contacted by the health board.

Friday 13th March 2026 is

WORLD SLEEP DAY

So many of us struggle with sleep, which has a huge impact on our daily lives. We’ve put together a short video, but there is so much more information out there that we haven’t touched on to help with your sleeping routine.

1. Keep a regular sleeping pattern. So go to bed at the same time at night, and get up at the same time in the morning.

2. Avoid excessive alcohol intake for 3-4 hours prior to bed

3. Excessive screen time, particularly within an hour of bedtime, significantly deteriorates sleep quality by reducing total sleep time, delaying sleep onset, and causing disturbed sleep.
Power down devices at least 30-60 minutes before bed.

Help us raise awareness of sleep health, and share your ideas and comments below ☺️

‼️ We are under significant pressure on the telephone lines today due to the weather and staffing levels. Please be patient with our staff and if you are trying to book any routine appointments, please do this on another day so the phone lines can be free for urgent queries. If you are trying to cancel an appointment and have the NHS Wales app, you can do this on the app. Many thanks for your cooperation. ‼️

Our Elfie fun has come to an end, and tonight he must travel back to the North Pole………… we think 🤔

We would like to wish all our patients a very merry Christmas. The surgery will reopen on Monday 29th December.

If you require urgent care, use NHS 111 online or by phone (24/7), which directs you to out-of-hours GPs, urgent treatment centers, or pharmacies, or call 999 for emergencies. Pharmacies offer help for minor ailments, and some have extended bank holiday hours.
For any mental health concerns call 111 option 2.

Have a wonderful Christmas

23/12/2025

It’s a time to celebrate, but little Elfie has been a bit greedy and over indulged 🙈 Although it’s a time for treats please don’t forget your 5 a day, and plenty of water !!!! ☺️

22/12/2025

The number of respiratory viruses within our hospitals and community are increasing at a steady rate! It appears poor Elfie has been struck down with it too 😢
If you are visiting the surgery we kindly ask you wear a mask if you have a cough, or any cold & flu symptoms. This not only protects vulnerable patients, but also keeps the staff well, so they can continue to look after those who need us.

We really want everyone to have a holly jolly Christmas!! Thank you for your continuing support 😷.
