📱 Screen time and young children – new guidance for parents & carers

The government has shared helpful advice to support healthy screen habits for children under 5:

👶 Avoid screen time for under 2s
⏱️ For ages 2–5, aim for no more than 1 hour per day

🧠 Choose slow-paced, predictable programmes – these are better for developing brains. Fast-paced, highly stimulating content can make it harder for young children to concentrate.

👨‍👩‍👧 Try not to let children use screens alone. Watching together and talking about what they see supports their development and helps keep them safe.

📚 Swap screens at mealtimes or before bed for stories or simple games

👀 Remember – children learn by copying you. Being mindful of your own screen use can make a big difference

Small changes can have a big impact on your child’s development 💙

🚨We’d like to let patients know that some building works will be taking place at our Glemsford Surgery branch today, Monday 30th March 2026, specifically to the surrounding wall near the entrance.

During this time, there may be some disruption to the car park and the usual entrance route to the surgery. We kindly ask that patients allow extra time when arriving for appointments to avoid any inconvenience.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while these improvements are carried out.

⚠ Glemsford Patients -We would like to kindly remind all Glemsford patients that sharps bins cannot be returned to the surgery for disposal. ⚠

💉If you use a sharps bin, please arrange collection or disposal through your local council’s clinical waste service:👉https://www.babergh.gov.uk/w/clinical-medical-and-sharps-collections

They will be able to advise on the appropriate process and, where applicable, organise collection from your home.

Please note this is for 💛yellow lidded sharps bins only. If you have a 💜purple lidded sharps bin please return to the service or hospital clinic that provided you with it for disposal. 🏥

❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️

📣Haverhill patients - Please check West Suffolk Council website for how to dispose of sharps bins.

Please note that from 1st April 2026 Haverhill Pharmacy will no longer accept bins. Sharps bins can still be taken to Lloyds Pharmacy in Newmarket and Croasdales in Bury St Edmunds.

We will provide further updates on any changes for sharps bin disposal when we have them.

💙 Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a safe environment for all patients and staff.
