Do you wake up feeling as exhausted as when you went to bed?
Do you need a caffeine boost to get you going in the morning?
Do you press the snooze button endlessly?
Did you realise a bedtime routine isn't just for children, but can help adults get a good quality nights sleep?

The Happy Pear recommend the 3-2-1 method which is a great way of remembering these really useful tips:

3 hours before sleeping, stop eating and drinking alcohol

2 hours before sleeping, stop working and doing anything that might stress you out

1 hour before sleeping, no screens and start your wind down hour

Your wind down hour you could include in your wind down hour:

IF YOU'RE NOT A MORNING PERSON (which you're probably not if your not sleeping great):
Get your act together the night before: what will you be having for breakfast? Can you prep in advance? What are you going to be wearing? Get clothes out ready. Need a bag ready for work? Get it ready the night before.
For more on this see my blog: https://www.bienestar360.co.uk/post/i-m-not-a-morning-person-the-number-one-way-to-be-productive-tomorrow

WASH IT AWAY: Cleaning teeth, removing make-up, having a shower or a bath can literally help you to 'wash the day away' soothing you ready for sleep.

DUMP THE BRAIN (My favourite tip). Journaling before sleep has be proven to help with sleep quality. Just write down whatever is in your head, or on your mind. A notepad by the bed will suffice but remember to keep the lights low or wear blue light blockers because bright light inhibits the production of melatonin one of our key sleep hormones.

NO TV IN BED. Keep the bedroom for sleep and intimacy only. If you can leave your phone outside the room. Make sure to remove any electricals with charging lights or bright alarm clocks (go retro!). Make sure your room is cool and dark.

Sweet dreams everyone ###

Funny this popped up as I’ve only just posted about it. This is not a ‘diet’ book. It is not a book about calorie restriction. But Dr. William Li does explain how to eat to get, and stay, healthy, helping to avoid many of diseases which take away our quality of life allowing us to remain fit & healthy well into our old age.

My eating pattern is a blend of Mediterranean and Asian-inspired ingredients, from olive oil to seafood to kimchi. 🐟 🍤

If you’ve ever wondered what I eat in a day, my new book Eat to Beat Your Diet dives into how I follow the MediterAsian eating pattern through breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It also includes over 30 recipes from my own kitchen.

Meditation has been practiced for centuries by various cultures around the world, and it has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its many benefits for both the mind and body. Here are some reasons why you may want to consider adding meditation to your daily routine:

Reduces stress and anxiety: Meditation is a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety. It can help you to calm your mind and reduce the negative effects of stress on your body.

Improves mental clarity and focus: Regular meditation can improve your ability to concentrate and focus, as well as boost your overall mental clarity.

Enhances emotional well-being: Meditation has been shown to enhance emotional well-being by reducing symptoms of depression and improving mood.

Boosts immune system: Studies have found that meditation can boost the immune system by increasing the production of antibodies that fight off viruses and bacteria.

Promotes better sleep: Meditation can help you to fall asleep more easily and improve the quality of your sleep.

Increases self-awareness: Through meditation, you can develop a greater sense of self-awareness, which can help you to understand your own thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Enhances creativity: Regular meditation has been shown to enhance creativity and improve problem-solving skills.

Overall, meditation is a simple yet powerful tool that can help you to improve your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. If you haven't tried it before, consider giving it a try and see how it can benefit you.

Connection is essential to our well-being. In a world where we are constantly bombarded by distractions and disconnected from each other, it's important to make time for meaningful connections. Whether it's with family, friends, or even strangers, taking the time to connect can have a profound impact on our lives.

Incredible infogrpahic by nic | Brain health on instagram.

Let's talk about why these work...As human beings, we are wired to respond emotionally to triggers. Our amygdala serves as the primary center for emotional reactivity and our prefrontal cortex serves as the primary center for top-level executive functioning. Through activities such as mindfulness and breathwork, we can actually rewire our brains so that our emotional responses are more regulated than they were before.

By engaging in these activities on a regular basis, we can develop healthier brain pathways that allow us to be more aware of our emotions and how to manage them better. Additionally, by practicing meditation, we can become more mindful of how our thoughts affect our emotional states and how we can cultivate a better sense of mental wellbeing by deliberately choosing to focus on the positive instead of dwelling on the negative.
