I am delighted to be one of the speakers at the Women's Health and Wellbeing event on 26th June 2022. This is a fundraiser for the amazing Hatters Outreach foodbank in Stockport.

I will be talking about the link between Mood and Food and how natural changes in hormones can affect women at every life stage. The event is packed with information about how to navigate hormonal health with an inspiring panel of speakers, Victoria Ward from Poynton Holistic Clinic, Psychologist Kate McAllister and Careers Adviser Dr Eileen Cunningham.

100% of all ticket sale proceeds will be directly donated to Hatters Outreach to help them continue with their amazing work to provide food essentials for homeless and low income families in Stockport.

Find out practical tips and advice on supporting women's health - tickets are Β£2 on the door and the event includes refreshments, raffle prizes and beauty stands from Tropic Skincare and The Body Shop.

Really feeling the autumnal love today. I often walk through this wood in the morning. No phone, no podcasts just quietly noticing nature, listening to the birds, feeling the bristle of leaves underfoot and listening to the stream. Regular walks outside aren't only a great form of exercise but helps to boost your mood. With shorter days ahead and more time spent inside its a great way to take time out, even just for 20 minutes.

Its World Menopause Day 2021!
The theme from this year is Bone Health.

By your 30's your bone density starts to naturally decrease. The higher your bone density, the lower your risk of osteoporosis in later life.

Osteoporosis means you have a higher risk of fractures, your bones are so fragile they break from the slighest knock or trauma.

Everybody loses bone mass over time, its part of the normal ageing process. During perimenopause and menopause there can be a rapid decline in bone mass due to the drop in oesteogen levels. BUT not all women experience the same drop in bone density.

As you are unlikely to know how fast you are losing bone mass its vital that you think about osteoporosis prevention.

As well as eating a healthy well balanced diet, there are lifestyle factors that can help to build bone so exercise is extremely important in the prevention of Osteoporosis.
Any weight bearing exercise that puts pressure on your bones -
Brisk Walking πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ
Walking the Dog πŸ•
Running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
Tennis 🎾
Badminton 🏸
Stair Climbing πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ
Aerobics or Dance πŸ’ƒ

Its important to make time for exercise and to fit it into your schedule. Don't put it to the bottom of your to do list. Its a priority for the prevention of osteoporosis and a wide range of other health conditions.

What's your daily weight bearing exercise? If you hadn't guessed from the picture, mine is briskly walking my dog Lola first thing in the morning! BUT if you are new to exercise take it slowly at first and don't overdo it. Build up your strength gradually and do something that you enjoy!

I am definately feeling the onset of Autumn today on my morning walk with Lola. Flushed cheeks, drizzly rain and the crunching of leaves underfoot.
Autumn feels more like a time of renewal to me, rather than the traditional time of New Year and failed resolutions! Perhaps its the back to school feeling, a new term, a nearly 'normal' way of working and living.
After the summer holiday's, it may be a time to rethink your health or improve your food choices.
Is there a health concern or goal that you have been ignoring and now feel its time to get some extra support and advice?
Contact me for a free 15 minute discovery call if you would like to find out more about Nutritional Therapy and how I can support you. Even the smallest nutrition and lifestyle changes could be the start of your own Autumn renewal....

Over lockdown, I decided I needed to get fitter and stronger, so set myself a challenge and entered the Chatsworth 10k. I haven't entered any kind of event for about 7 years but I needed a goal! Its the 2nd time I have done it...its a tough one...3k of uphill and multi terrain but I really enjoyed it. One of the most picturesque 10ks I have done... thanks to and for organising and I hope lots of money was raised.

If you are struggling with inspiration and motivation, signing up to an event like this, joining a swimming club or yoga class can often be a catalyst to improve your fitness and health.

If you feel like giving running a go, there are loads of plans available to ease you into it at a steady pace....I use a book called Running Made Easy which breaks down the plan into a manageable 10 week programme which is suitable for beginners, literally starting with a run/walk plan.

As well as the fitness benefits, spending time on myself every other day going for a run has such a positive impact. Quite often I could not be bothered to run, or it might rain or some other excuse would come to mind but I would go and always return home in a good mood.

I encourage all my clients to set aside some time for themselves every day, whatever that may be....it is more valuable than you may think.....

Sunday 18th October is World Menopause Day - a really important day which raises the awareness of the menopause and support options for women during this time.

But what about the Perimenopause? This is the decade leading upto the menopause...yes thats right the DECADE leading upto it!

If you are aged between 40 and 50 years old then now is the best time to consider adding extra support. You can actually plan now, to prepare your body for this natural stage in your life.

Did you know that stress and poor blood sugar balance can be some of the drivers of hormonal imbalance?

Perimenopause is a journey that requires support and its a journey that starts long before the symptoms appear......contact me to arrange a consultation to support a natural menopausal hormonal progression whilst targeting symptom support.
I will take a full 360 degree view of your health and provide you with coping strategies that you can implement over this time.
I offer full consultations or short 30 minute chats to answer any questions you may have. DM me to find out more and how you can prepare yourself for this natural transistion.
