Oh, hi there. 👋 Here's my lighting and camera crew and my very-demanding demo model getting everything ready to go...
We're two weeks in, and we've absolutely loved seeing you in our classes. Thank you for showing up. As studios start to reopen, we'll continue online for now until we are ready to open safely. So we're a virtual studio for now, and I get a few head scratches from friends when I tell them why. So.....
Why a virtual studio?
⭐️ Accountability ⭐️
It's the accountability of making yourself show up to a class at a scheduled time instead of just following a video. The teacher can see you, they are responding to the group, you can't press pause and go do something around the house and then decide to not finish the video. It takes effort, self-accountability, and commitment to show up for yourself to an online live class.
⭐️ Flexibility ⭐️
There's no way I could ever get to a yoga studio for a 7am class. But I can roll out of bed and start my day by carving out time to take care of myself, both physically and mentally, before my kids have even woken up. When I start my day with yoga, I feel like I come to the day instead of the day crashing into me. It's hard and takes effort, but it is so worth it. The same goes with evening classes. Although I know you can't beat the in-person experience, I'm loving the flexibility offered by this new virtual fitness trend that's arisen because of lockdown.
⭐️ Safety ⭐️
The original studio location I found would be great if the coronavarius madness never happened, but without knowing how long we'll have to social distance, I'm not comfortable opening a physical studio until I know everyone will be safe.
⭐️ Keeping it local ⭐️
All of our teachers are local, Sussex-based teachers. We are all small businesses. Yes, you can get unlimited yoga from YouTube, but when you practice with us, you know you are supporting a local small business.
I know most of us have long ago settled into our lockdown routines, but with the long summer holidays here (which I know makes it even harder to get to a studio), I think there is still plenty of time to form new, healthy habits. First class is free.... so maybe try it.... you just might surprise yourself by how accessible and enjoyable virtual yoga can be.
