Today in Oakwood Court we celebrated all things St David's Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

We started the day off by making some Daffodils 🌼 by cutting out card and egg trays and then painting them 🎨🖌️. They looked so pretty once finished 🥰.

Residents enjoyed a tasty Welsh lunch of slow cooked lamb, Welsh cakes and leeks 🥬. For dessert we had Snowdon steamed pudding and custard.

Finishing the day off with a Welsh quiz which residents found hilarious as Charlie tried to pronounce the Welsh words 😀🤣.

Our residents have been keeping busy and smiling with plenty of fun activities:

🎱 Bingo Time!
There was lots of excitement (and a little friendly competition!) over the last couple of days as numbers were called and prizes were won. It’s always a favourite!

🎶 Musical Entertainment
We were delighted to welcome our wonderful musical entertainer, John who had everyone tapping their feet and singing along to some well-loved classics. Music really does bring back special memories.

✏️ Hangman This Morning
Today started with a lively game of Hangman, getting everyone’s minds working and the laughter flowing!

It’s been fantastic to see so much engagement, joy and togetherness. Well done to all our residents for joining in and making every activity so special. 💛

Oakwood Court hosted a wonderful Puzzle and Pie activity this morning 🧩🥧
Family, friends, visitors and staff joined residents engaging in a variety of jigsaws as well as word, picture and rebus puzzles 🤔
Whilst doing the puzzles there was a lot of chat and laughter whilst enjoying a well earned coffee☕
After many completed jigsaws everyone made their way to the Dining Room to enjoy the pies made by the kitchen for the themed lunch.
Cottage pie, Spinach pie and Apple pie disappeared quickly as appetites were high after the busy morning 🥧😋🥰
All in all, the event was a great success and residents are looking forward to the next one!

Happy Monday everyone 😊

We’re looking forward to another lovely week filled with meaningful activities, good food, and special moments together.

GF Fitness will be visiting tomorrow to give our bodies a great workout 💪, and on Wednesday our brains will be put to the test with our Pie & Puzzle Day 🥧🧩

We’ll also be enjoying another fun and energetic Drum Fit session on Saturday 🥁, before celebrating St. David’s Day on Sunday 🌼

All of this alongside a tasty menu designed to truly tantalise our taste buds! 🍽️✨

It's Monday again where does the time go 😀. We kicked off our week with some challenging ball games 🏀.

We started off by trying to get the correct coloured ball in the correct colour labelled basket. 💚 ♥️ 💛 🤍
It was made a little bit harder by placing the baskets in various heights and distances.

Everyone did so well and tried so hard to get the balls in the baskets 🥰

We then ended the session with a game of throwing and catching and trying not to let the ball hit the floor 😀

Today as it's the last day of the winter Olympics we played a fun game of winter Olympic bingo ❄️ ⛸️ 🥇🥈🥉.

All the residents really enjoyed looking for all the related items and games. Lesley won with a full line 🥰.

This afternoon we chatted about what kinds of activities and games residents did as children. This brought many smiles 😀 we finished off our afternoon with a singalong which we all enjoyed 🎙️🎶.

This afternoon at Oakwood Court we tried a new activity which was 'Desert Island Discs'

Residents chose favourite songs or tunes, shared why they had meaning, and we all enjoyed them together, singing along with their choices 🥰
Many songs evoked memories for the residents leading to some lovely chat about the past and where the music took them too 🎶❤️

✈️Armchair Travel, at Oakwood Court this morning, took residents to Italy to coincide with the winter Olympics ⛷️🇮🇹🍕⛸️❄️🏔️
We discussed the medals Great Britain had won and the different types of competitions there have been 🥇🥈🥉
Facts and trivia about Italy was followed by some food tasting and they all enjoyed Parma ham, salami, mozzarella, parmesan, biscotti and Ferrero Richer 🍖🧀 🍫
A short quiz followed with a 'guess the gelato flavour' picture round 🍦🍧🍨
At the end of the session everyone voted for the next destination and Australia was chosen 🇦🇺🌏🦘🪃✈️🥰
