To raise money for Treetops Hospice that does such a brilliant job giving support to so many, I have made the somewhat dubious decision to take part in the Derby 10K next March. Anyone who knows me will understand that my fitness levels are not what they could be! I have just started the couch to 5K following the NHS app and hopefully by March I will manage the distance. If I finish last - I don't mind (have been last before!). As my sister once commented - You couldn't even run when you were a kid!
If anyone would like to donate - it is for a superb cause. 🙂

Direct Cremation as you may have seen advertised on TV has no service for family or friends at all.

It is quite simply a removal of your loved one, followed by the return of the cremated remains some weeks later. It is often the case that your loved one is transported to a central cremation hub, the other end of the country, far from their home.

As your local independent funeral director we also offer Direct Cremation, but unlike many of the offers advertised on TV, we will care for your loved one locally at our premises, the cremation will take place at a local crematorium and we will continue to offer the additional services you have come to expect from us. Lets talk Direct Cremations...

There is a post that has been circulating social media over the last few days regarding the Direct Cremations you see advertised on the television.

We, an independent family funeral service also offer direct cremations. But what is the difference between us and the companies you see advertised on television?

Use your local independent funeral directors, you may be surprised at what your local funeral director may be able to offer to suit your budget and your loved ones wishes.

I took a service a couple of weeks ago and received the lovely comments after from the family:-

Dear Andrea
Thank you so much for planning and leading the ceremony for our Mum's funeral yesterday. We are so grateful to you for your empathy, warmth, and calm competence during our meeting and in your calls with us, and for your calm dignity and respect for Mum, and for the mourners, on the day itself. At such a difficult time, it made a huge difference to know that someone understood our specific needs as well as Mum's preferences, and was able to build in flexibility to manage that.

I (Sarah) particularly found your calls reassuring and calming during what was a very heavy and busy period! So thank you for being that oasis of calm and reassurance!

Many complimentary comments were made about the ceremony and the way you conducted your role. One of Mum's friends particularly said how dignified and respectful you, and the ceremony were.
