If you’re heading back into long days at a desk, spending more time on screens, or dealing with the pressure of a busy January routine, it’s no surprise that headaches can start to creep in.

Many people experience tension-related headaches caused by tight muscles in the neck and shoulders, restricted movement through the upper spine, or stress building up over time.

Osteopathic treatment offers a gentle and effective approach to reducing headache frequency and intensity. By easing muscular tightness, improving joint mobility, and helping the body unwind from daily strain, osteopathy supports clearer thinking, better comfort, and improved overall wellbeing.

We are here to help you!

January routines can be challenging for families and not just for adults!

Children and teens often feel the strain too, especially when returning to school after a break. Sports training restarts, heavy school bags come back into use, and increased screen time can lead to stiffness, growing pains and posture related aches.

Osteopathy offers gentle support to help young people combat the stains from their school life and tech usage. Whether your child is dealing with sports injuries,
muscle tightness, general aches or simply the effects of growing quickly, our
practitioners provide safe and reassuring care.

We work closely with families to help children feel their best throughout the busy winter months.

bags and tech neck!

🎄🐾 Keep Chocolate Out of Paw’s Reach This Christmas & New Year 🍫🚫

Meet Bonnie, who managed to eat 3 Terry’s Chocolate Orange balls from a parcel 😱 After an emergency vet visit and treatment, she’s luckily made a full recovery 💕

During the festive season, chocolate is everywhere, gifts, stockings, parcels, and visitors’ bags. While tasty for us, chocolate is dangerous for dogs and poisoning is far more common at this time of year.

🍫 Chocolate contains theobromine, which dogs can’t process. Even small amounts can be toxic, especially dark chocolate.

🚨 If you suspect your dog has eaten chocolate, contact your vet immediately.

🐾 Keep dogs safe by:
• Storing chocolate well out of reach
• Warning people when sending chocolate in the post
• Keeping dogs away from deliveries
• Offering dog-safe treats

From all of us at East Sussex Osteopaths, we wish your whole family, people and pets, a safe and healthy festive season ✨🐶

As the days get colder, many of us find ourselves hunching over to keep warm and spending more time at home on sofas, laptops, or wrapped up under blankets.

Over time, this can lead to stiffness, headaches, and lower back discomfort.

✨ A winter posture check-in with one of our osteopaths can help you:

• Ease tight muscles
• Improve posture and alignment
• Prevent winter-related aches
• Stay comfortable through the season

Wrap up warm this December… but don’t let your posture suffer for it.

How Breathing Affects Pain & Posture

Breathing isn’t just about oxygen, it’s about movement and stability. Your diaphragm connects directly to your spine, ribs, and posture. When we breathe shallowly (often from stress, asthma or poor posture), we lose core support and increase muscle tension.

Try this:
👉 Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.
👉 Take slow breaths into your belly, feel your ribs expand sideways.
👉 Notice how your shoulders relax? That’s your nervous system calming down.
