We’re excited to continue our new series where we share a little more about ‘Who We Are’.

Each post, we’ll be introducing you to one of the friendly faces you might see or speak to when you get in touch with us. From our team’s roles to their names and faces - you’ll get to know the people behind our name.

We’ll also share a bit of our history, what we stand for, and why we’re so passionate about providing care with compassion and respect in every moment. As an established, trusted and respected name in the funeral profession, we strive to deliver our ‘traditional values with a modern approach’.

So, whether you’ve known us for years or are just finding out who we are, we hope this series brings you closer to the people who make our work possible and allows you to get to know ‘Who We Are’.

And for Week 3, who better to have up next than Michael Yates...

Last week, as part of National Afternoon Tea Week, we delivered hampers to some local care and nursing homes. The hampers contained some tasty fresh local scones supplied by the lovely Truffles Bakery, Heathfield, and local cakes from Sallys Country Cakes, as well as Twinings UK Tea, Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream and Jam - sounds good to us!

Perfect for a moment of calm afternoon tea amidst the hard work that care and nursing homes provide, day in and day out.

Today, on National Parents’ Day, we take a moment to reflect on the profound love, wisdom, and guidance that parents can bring into our lives.

Whether they are by our side or live on in our hearts, the impact of a parent's care lasts a lifetime - shaping who we are, how we love, and the values we carry forward.

Our own Clare Waterhouse, who continues her mother's 60+ years of experience in funeral directing, was privileged to direct the funeral of the late Roy Woodgate, aged 103.

Roy joined the RAF in 1940, serving as a rear gunner with 36 Squadron on Wellington bombers. On 3 November 1943, after being shot down over the Mediterranean, he was rescued by HMS Anemone, earning his place in the Goldfish Club. He also served with Air Sea Rescue, aboard HMS Bridport.
