Happy birthday to our lovely little Mona who enjoyed being pampered in the salon wth Tracy where she was serenaded as everyone sang happy birthday.

Mona was joined by her family in the activiity cafe foe an afternoon tea and Mona really enjoyed her sherry and lemonade so much she didn't want to put it down to blow her candles out.

Monas family shared some lovely videos with us of Mona a few years back in the hot tub and playing drinking games with a water gun 😄 it was lovely to see.

Our residents have enjoyed Funday Friday having hair and nails done.
It's always a busy day with everyone feeling amazing after Tracy performs her magic in the salon.

It's bath time for everyone's favourite fluff ball today as our ladies groomed honey and gave her lots of cuddles and encouragement.

She made everyone scream with laughter as she drank the water and gave us a cheeky splash.

We were joined by Charlie's grandaughter Rose who helped to blowdry her and did a fab job.

We started off today with our green fingered gardening club planting some seeds to put in our greenhouse.
We planted bizzie lizzies and pansies. Our residents sieved out the compost to remove any lumps.
Its always nice to see them working together and helping eachother.

Making the most of the sunshine today Josephine enjoyed a trip to our local shops to pick out bingo prizes.
We bought chocolate bars and sweets which are always a popular prize.

Another wish added to our wish tree today as Margaret enjoyed a shopping spree to South Shields.

Margaret was hoping for a nice lemon jumper to wear in the nice spring weather and we found just what she was looking for in Bon Marche.

After a browse around the shops we stopped off for a bite to eat where Margaret chatted about the good old days when the market used to be on and there was always a bargain to be had.

We’re thrilled to share that our Managing Directors and members of Barchester’s Executive and Senior Management Teams will be stepping out of their comfort zones on Thursday 30 April to compete for culinary supremacy in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2026.

Swapping their business suits for chefs’ whites, they will go head-to-head to cook up a storm and raise funds for Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

In 2025, the Foundation achieved a donation milestone of £424,000, which enabled the charity to provide vital help to a staggering 262 small groups and charities, plus 123 individuals in one year alone.

🌟 Good luck, everyone! 🌟

🎵 It's a family affair - three generations of musicians entertain residents at Lindum House 🎹

Colleagues and residents at Lindum House Care Home in were treated to a wonderful afternoon of musical entertainment thanks to three generations of the same talented family of singers.

Paul and his wife, Pat, have been married for over 60 years and have recently moved into Lindum House. Paul was a regular on the club circuit for many years performing as part of ‘The Society of Mice’ and ‘The Two Cavaliers.’ It was at Pat’s local pub, The Spring Head, where Paul used to sing every week, that they first met. Their son, Gary, has carried on the family tradition and can regularly be found performing locally in the pubs and clubs.

Following in their footsteps, grandson Liam, is also a talented singer. He joined forces with his dad and, later on in the set, his grandpa too, and three generations of the Julian family entertained the residents.

A resident shared: “It was so lovely to hear their three voices and really heart-warming to see Paul join in and sing so well at the end of the set. What a wonderful memory for them to cherish.”

Such a lovely experience! ✨

🎉 Celebrating a 20-Year Anniversary 🎉

We’re delighted to celebrate one of our Managing Directors, Alison Donaldson, as she marks 20 years with Barchester Healthcare.

Alison was recently surprised by our COO, Natasha Lazovic, who presented her with a long service award and a beautiful cake at a champagne reception in her honour.

Alison joined Barchester in January 2006 as General Manager of Newlands Care Centre in Workington, Cumbria. She later moved to Lanercost Care Home in Carlisle and from there she was promoted to Senior General Manager, then Regional Director, before she was made Senior Regional Director, and now as Managing Director, she oversees care homes across the North West of England and stretching down into the Midlands.

She shared: “…We always provide the best possible care to our wonderful residents and the best training to our staff. Helping our Regional Directors and General Managers to run our homes to the best possible standard is what motivates me each and every day. I am proud to be a nurse, I absolutely love what I do and it is a privilege to work alongside my fantastic teams.”

Congratulations, Alison! 👏

🐾 Celebrating National Puppy Day with Archie 🐾

At Ritson Lodge Care Home in , colleagues and residents celebrated their staff member, Archie, the adorable Cocker Spaniel pup.

Archie joined the home in December when his owner, Chris, became General Manager of the home and everyone agrees the pair have got off to a flying start.

Archie quickly became part of the team, with Activities Coordinator Angela even arranging a set of uniforms for him – including Chef Archie, Carer Archie and Activities Archie in his pink polo shirt.

Everyone agrees he looks even more adorable in uniform – if that’s possible!

One resident shared: “…Having Archie here puts everyone at ease and really makes us feel at home, he has such a lovely, calming effect and we all love him dearly. He reminds us of all the pups we have known and loved. We just love having him around the place.”

✂️ Kind-hearted Colleague Donates Her Hair to The Little Princess Trust ✂️

Staff and residents at Beaufort Grange Care Home in are celebrating their selfless Activities Coordinator, Lucy, who has very kindly donated her lovely long hair to cancer charity, The Little Princess Trust.

Having seen first-hand the impact that cancer can have on families, kind-hearted Lucy wanted to help in whatever way she could. The Little Princess Trust a wonderful charity who make wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and who are always looking for donations of hair.

Lucy decided to take the plunge and the whole home got together to give her moral support and cheer her on. Several of the residents couldn’t bear to watch as Lucy parted ways with her beautiful long locks.

She said: “I have really thick, heavy hair and I have donated it before but you still can’t help feeling nervous. If it helps a child going through a tough time though, it’s all worth it and I would definitely do it again. I just need to get a move on before too many grey hairs start to come through!”

Such an inspiration – well done, Lucy! 👏

🖌️🎨 Virtual V&A Make-along: Fashion and Food ✨

Residents and patients up and down the country took part in a live virtual make-along hosted by Holly from the V&A Learning team and designer-artist Rafin, in celebration of London Fashion Week.

The event explored the world of dessert-inspired fashion and discovered more about Marie Antoinette’s favourite sweet treats, before everyone had the chance to get creative with their own sweet still-life paintings.

It was a relaxing and inspiring experience – and the finished artworks were truly impressive!

A big thank you to the Victoria and Albert Museum for such a fantastic session. 👏
