Did you know? Menopause is forcing women to leave the workforce. At any given time, at least 60,000 women are out of work long-term sick because of menopause.
This has a huge, lasting impact on women’s health, wellbeing and finances, damaging gender equality at home and at work. It also costs the economy £1.5 billion a year.
As a large employer of almost 8,500 women, Cera is committed to supporting women at every stage of life. We are proud to have a negative gender pay gap of -3.9%, meaning women at Cera on average earn more than men. 84% of our staff are women, and 50% of our management team are women.
🌸 Cera is also a member of the Menopause Friendly Association, offering enhanced care, resources, flexibility and support for women going through menopause.
And we want to do everything we can to stop menopause from harming our employees’ careers.
How are we doing this?
🚀 Last week, on World Menopause Day, we launched Cera Women: an employee resource group dedicated to empowering women with financial autonomy, equal career opportunities, peer support and expert guidance throughout their careers, including during menopause.
🚀 Our newly updated menopause policy encourages staff to communicate with their manager if they’re struggling with symptoms, and have the option to make adjustments to their working arrangements.
🚀 We also rolled out our Menopause Champions Programme, offering training and support to help our workforce better understand menopause and how to support colleagues experiencing it.
An incredible number of employees volunteered to become menopause champions, and here are a few reasons why they’re so passionate about this role!
