WEIGHT LOSS TREATMENT IN PRIMARY CARE

We are aware of the media reporting that Mounjaro weight loss treatment is available for prescribing by GPs from 23 June 2025. West Yorkshire ICB, like many other ICBs in England, have yet to announce how the rollout of Mounjaro is going to be managed in our area. Because of this, we are unable to prescribe Mounjaro at this time, and we are yet to know the timeframe of when we will be able to commence this, or whether it will be provided by an alternative community service.

Once rollout commences, NHS England state the first eligible cohort will be patients with a body mass index (BMI) over 40, and four other qualifying medical conditions. Whilst we understand the anticipation, please await further guidance and do not contact us for Mounjaro yet, as we do not have any further info at this time.

Thank you

SNOWY CONDITIONS:
We are open today, but please be patient as there is likely to be travel disruption for staff and short staffing on the phone lines.

Please keep yourselves safe in these slippy conditions. If travelling to an appointment would be potentially dangerous please remain safe at home. If it is appropriate for your matter to be dealt with over the telephone, our clinicians will phone you instead if you do not arrive for your appointment. No need to phone us in this instance.

Some appointments may need to be converted to telephone appointments if staff are unable to make it to work.

We will predominantly alter appointments via text message. Please keep and eye on your phone for updates.

Thank you and keep safe

NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Grange Dene Medical Centre

Further clarification

Today, Tuesday 2nd July, the signs and cameras have gone up in the car park.

The restricted times are:

Monday to Friday 7am-7pm
Saturday 9am to 5pm

(The parking company have made an error on the signs listing Sundays. We have deliberately left evenings and Sundays clear as we are happy for the community to appropriately use the car park when it is not needed for the surgery – we have spoken with the company and they have assured us the signs will be changed ASAP)

During the above hours, parking is restricted to 60 minutes. This allows access up to 1 hour to the doctors, dentist, pharmacy and post office. If patients have appointments and need to be with us longer than 60 minutes they can obtain a temporary permit using the tablet mounted on the wall in the surgery. The dentist also have the means to grant temporary permits to patients with them, who need to stay over 60 minutes for their treatment.

We have instigated these measures as our patients and visitors were unable to find sufficient parking despite the size of the car park. Hopefully this should solve the problems experienced over the past 18 months. However, should we still find spaces are limited or unavailable for patients, we may have to review the parking parameters further.

Our only aim is to ensure there is adequate parking available for genuine users of the Grange Dene Medical Complex.

We also need to maintain clear passage for emergency vehicles attending the surgery.

Should people wish to park in Mytholmroyd for other purposes/to visit other local businesses, there are currently free car parks at Russel Deans and Mytholmroyd train station. Mytholmroyd Community Centre also offer honesty box parking.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding,

Hebden Bridge Group Practice

NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS

From Tuesday 2nd July 2024 new parking restrictions will be in place in our car parks at Valley Medical Centre and Grange Dene Medical Centre.

The new restrictions require you to acquire a parking permit if your time with us requires you to be parked for over 60 minutes.

There will be a touchscreen tablet in the reception area at both sites where registration details can be entered. People overstaying 60 minutes without obtaining a permit will be sent a parking charge notice through Civil Enforcement, who may apply a charge of up to £100. Further details can be found on the signage in the car parks.

We have instigated these new measures in response to prolonged issues and numerous complaints regarding having enough space for patients to park to attend their appointments. We have used social media, websites, group participation and flyers to inform the community over the past year, that further measures would have to be taken if the car parks were not used responsibly.

Hopefully these measures will ensure the car parks are available appropriately for all patients attending appointments.

Thank you,

Hebden Bridge Group Practice
