This entirely-online international legal conference is a unique opportunity to delve into the most pressing challenges of our time and learn about critical law and governance innovations in climate change, biodiversity and natural resources. The mid-symposium plenary features the world-class biennial Hon Justice CD Gonthier Memorial Lectures, which are provided by eminent international leaders with global insights, experience and impact Justice Kathy-Ann Brown (International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea, Jamaica) and Professor Christina Voigt (University of Oslo, Chair of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law, Norway), and celebrate this biennial’s Weeramantry International Justice Award laureates, as well as the inaugural award of a new Global Fellowship in honour of HE Judge CG and Mrs Weeramantry.

Held entirely online, the global symposium co-hosted by the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL), in cooperation with expert colleagues from the University of Cambridge, McGill University, the University of Montreal, the University of Waterloo, the University of Nairobi, the University of Costa Rica, the University of Chile, UN Environment Programme, the International Development Law Organization, the International Law Association, the International Intertribal Trade and Investment Organization, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network of Canada, and the International Bar Association, along with the McGill Journal of Sustainable Development Law (MJSDL) and the Sustainable Development Law and Policy Journal of Nigeria, among other partners, offering a special, once-every-two-years chance to become more informed and engaged in emerging issues of this field.
