If you haven’t seen the beautiful work of Winston Plowes - Land Artist, it’s a joy to behold.

I happened upon this piece this afternoon, while walking the dog. It looked a little less perfect, but still made my heart leap.

Just amazing what can be created from the world around us ❤️

344 GLINT - Crow Nest Woods, Hebden Bridge, Calderdale - Spruce Cones & Needles. 24th January 2025

(Earlier yesterday) Like a cat, today I feel a bit spooked by the winds of storm Éowyn as I watch the birds being flung from tree to tree and hear the ramifications of “The greatest storm in living history” as it batters our islands. But there’s another part of me who wants to befriend it, to talk it down from whipping the tops of the trees, and so, this afternoon I will cross the train tracks to the dark path, where the pines and conifers live and try and make something on the path there come what may. And I resolve to post the results here whether they please the eye or not. Because, as I keep preaching on about, there is so much more to experience as a land artist than just the making. In fact, sometimes the making is just the tip of the iceberg.

(Today) And this is what happened yesterday. Beginning in the middle and taking care to choose the right sized cones and maintain symmetry the design evolved into a version of a brunswick star (see image in comments). The winds were indeed ferocious but not intimidating and something that shouts so loudly will soon become weary and now we have sun 🌞

After the snow and ice of the last week, it's hard to imagine Spring is less than 8 weeks away! In no time at all, the first shoots of new growth will be emerging from the Earth. If you look closely enough, you might already see some.

While I'm tucked up in the warm, I love plotting my year's treats and adventures. If you've been thinking of getting away, why not join this year's Spring Yoga Retreat?

We have exclusive use of the privately run hostel in Kettlewell. A few miles north of Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it's a gorgeous, peaceful spot.

The weekend runs from Thursday evening to Sunday lunchtime and really is food for the soul. The theme for this year's retreat is 'akasha' or 'space'. So many of us find it difficult to create and maintain the space we need to feel a sense of balance in life.

Using yoga asana, pranayama, mantra, relaxation, poetry and discussion we'll explore what this means to us and how we can create a sense of spaciousness in our own life.

As usual there will be home cooked veggie/vegan food and yummy cakes to nourish our practice. Rooms are twin share - all the singles are booked - I could also offer a tripe share.

Do come and join us if you can... and if you're nearest and dearest are looking for a birthday or Valentine's gift idea, they're welcome to get in touch for a gift voucher.

Happy New Year lovely yoga folks 🧡🧡🧡

I hope you've had a restful festive break and are well wrapped up against the cold. It's a bit brrrrrrrr out there today!❄️❄️❄️

As the Wheel of Nature turns and the sun returns - I hope! - to the Northern Hemisphere, it's time to get back on our mats.

Due to the current weather warnings, the road closure between Hebden & Tod - which would mean a tricky journey home - and a trip to Norway, I've decided to delay the start of our Monday evening classes for a few weeks.

I do love a bit of positive feedback 🧡🧡🧡

"Just a little note to say how wonderful today's yoga was. I really enjoyed it, especially the gentle, nurturing flows.

Craig's Gong Bath was phenomenal, as always, so what a perfect complement to your super yoga.

Looking forward to December's event.

Thank you both for all your hard work and planning."

Details for the Winter Solstice Yoga & Sound Journey will be out by the end of the week. Be lovely to see if you can make it x

Wow, it’s that time of the year again. I love the arrival of Autumn. After the energy and activity of the Summer months, I always really value the opportunity to slow down into the shorter days and longer nights of Autumn.

This weekend, I’ve had the pleasure of attending a Teacher Training Module on Awareness. We often talk about being aware of something, but on a day to day basis we’re talking about something which sits on the edge of our awareness. In yoga, we encourage the development of awareness on the level of the body, breath and mind. Connecting our practice to the first three koshas or sheaths of our existence.

Through regular practice, we can cultivate the quality of the witness, drashta, beginning to see the play of life unfold before our very eyes. Allowing us to act rather than react to the situations in which we find ourselves. Autumn is a time for turning inwards, a time of balance, where the energies of the sun and the moon are equal. In yoga when Ida and Pingala are in balance, the state if Sattwa can be experienced.

I hope that this shift from outer world to inner world, allows you the time and space to balance the many aspects of your life, creating space to delve a little deeper within and to begin the journey of truly knowing yourself and your true potential.

If you want to know more, why not join me for a class, workshop or retreat. Beginners and experienced students are very welcome.
