👋 Hi, I'm Natalie – the face behind Natalie Home Physio! 💙

When I’m not helping patients move better and feel stronger in their own homes, I’m usually chasing after my two amazing kids (4 & 2 – my eldest starts school this month! 🎒😭), running outdoors, or on a hockey pitch. 🏃 🏑

I’m also proud to be a naval wife, and I share my home (and many muddy walks) with Mars – my loyal 13½-year-old chocolate Labrador, Mars. 🐾

My physio approach is personal, practical, and always tailored to your needs. Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing a long-term condition, or just want to stay active and independent – I’m here to help.

My Favourite Exercise Series

Third up 🥉

Heel raises.

These are great for targeting the calf muscles and improve balance. Improving your balance will only help to reduce your risk of falls.

If you have a calf or ankle problem, there are exercises that you can do to help you move normally as you recover.

My Favourite Exercise Series

Second up 🥈

Standing on one leg

This is an important exercise as it will help with walking, going up and down the stairs and reduce your chances of falling.

You are never too young to start this one, do it whilst you brush you teeth 🦷 or whilst your waiting for the kettle 🫖 to enjoy.

🪑 Is Your Armchair Helping or Hurting You? 🧠💺

A poorly designed armchair can lead to back pain, poor posture, and even shoulder or hip discomfort. Here's what your physiotherapist wants you to know about armchair height and width:

✅ Seat Height:
Your knees should be level with or slightly lower than your hips. Feet flat on the floor—no dangling!

✅ Seat Width:
You should be able to sit comfortably without feeling squeezed, but avoid chairs so wide you lean to one side to reach the armrests.

✅ Armrest Height:
Your shoulders should stay relaxed. Armrests that are too high can cause tension, while too low means slouching.

💡 Bonus Tip: If you struggle to get out of the chair, it's probably too low. Consider chair raisers or ask your local carpenter to make you longer chair legs.

My Favourite Exercise Series

🥇The Squat

I particularly like this variation, it's aimed at People with Parkinson's but it is great for all.

It requires:
- control
- strength
-explosive movement
- and involves the arms too.

Its a whole body workout 🏋️‍♂

I haven’t been buggy running since I returned from maternity leave 15 months ago, I had forgotten how much harder it is. The extra weight and having to talk really slows you down.
Hopefully there will be plenty more to come in September when Josh starts school.
