BREAST SCREENING APPOINTMENTS
Mobile Unit - Morrison’s Car Park, Cardross Road, Helensburgh

Over the coming weeks, women between the ages of 50 and 70 in this area will receive an invitation for breast screening. Your invitation will arrive in the post with the details of your appointment. In this age group, regular screening (every three years) is the best way to detect breast cancer at an early stage, when treatment is most likely to be effective.

Women over the age of 70 will not be sent a routine invitation, but are welcome to make an appointment by contacting their local screening centre.

An NHSGGC hospital is gaining national and international recognition for its pioneering work in wound care.

Following a successful evaluation of the Heel Pro Advance boot, it has shaped practice across Scotland and the UK, with presentations at major conferences.

Findings from Vale of Leven Hospital (VoLH) found zero pressure damage incidents among 100 patients.

Scotland’s new vaccination is protecting babies from serious RSV infections.

We’ve published exciting new results showing the tremendous impact of the maternal RSV vaccine.

💙 Babies under 3 months, whose mums were vaccinated during pregnancy, were around 80% less likely to be admitted to hospital with RSV compared to those whose mums hadn’t been vaccinated.

💙 Since the RSV vaccination programme launched in August 2024, around half of eligible pregnant women have already taken it up.

💙 RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is very common and usually mild — but for very young infants it can cause serious illness, bronchiolitis, or pneumonia.

💙 The new vaccine, offered from 28 weeks of pregnancy, helps mothers pass protective antibodies to their baby before birth. This shields newborns during their most vulnerable first 6 months of life.

👉 If you’re pregnant, speak to your midwife about the RSV vaccine and how it can help protect your baby.

Today, the RAH VoLH transport service will operate a revised timetable. This is due to essential resurfacing and joint replacements on the A898 Erskine Bridge northbound being extended.

NHSGGC have ensured the same number of journeys will operate, but timings will be slightly different to take account of diversions and restrictions.
