📣 Meet the Co-Responders 📣

👨‍🚒 Continuing our Meet the Co-Responders Series, this is Kirk Bird, who has served in the fire service for nearly 8 years, and has been a proud Co-Responder for the past 4 with St Keverne Fire-brigade.

💬 “Helping people in our community is a massive part of my heart—when that pager goes off, I’m ready to be there.”

Kirk has attended many incidents, from cardiac arrests and breathing difficulties to traumatic injuries. Like many Co-Responders, he arrives before an ambulance to deliver vital care when every second matters.

🌟 Highlight Moment:
“One call that’s always stayed with me was to an elderly lady who called in with a heart attack and chest pains. I held her hand while we worked to stabilise her, and she looked at me and said, ‘Thank you so much for what you do for our community.’ She gave me a kiss on the cheek—and that moment has stayed with me ever since.”

Here at Proper Care we are heading towards our 20th anniversary and we are proud to look back at the achievements we have had over the years. Not only have we provided care to over 1800 people in our local community, we have also been the starting point for many staff who have gone on to be nurses and work in other important services within our NHS. 👋 Meet Proper Care's On-Call Team 👋
From left to right:

💕 Helen started her care career at Proper Care and has now been part of the team 7 years. Helen is currently completing her Level 3 in Health and Social Care!

💕 Jody has been part of the Proper Care Team for 2.5 years now and all together has 5 years of care experience. She is also currently completing a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care!

💕 Yvonne has been part of the Proper Care team for 5 years now, and working in the care industry for 14 years. Yvonne completed her Level 3 qualification back in 2024!

💕 Emilie has been part of the Proper Care team for 6 years and working in care for a total of 15 years. She is also the deputy manager and completed her Level 5 Management in Adult Care in 2024!

💕 Phillipa started her care career at Proper Care and has been with the team for 8 years now! She has also completed her Level 3 qualification last year!

💕 Sarah Jane has been part of the team for 6 years, and has a whopping 40 years of experience in the care industry. She is a Level 4 in Health and Social Care!

💕 Laura has been with Proper Care for a little over a year, although she has 12 years of experience in the care sector. She has also completed her Level 3 qualification this year!

Our wonderful on-call team have an impressive combined total of 89 years of experience in the care sector🤩! Our team are always available to speak to and help outside our usual office hours. ☎️
