You’re not broken.
And you never were.

So many people come into therapy believing something is wrong with them —
that they’re weak, failing, or incapable of coping.

But what I see, again and again, is this:

A nervous system that has been carrying too much for too long.
A body that adapted to survive when life felt overwhelming or unsafe.
Symptoms that once protected — now asking to be understood.

Fatigue, numbness, shutdown, heaviness…
These aren’t flaws.
They’re messages.

Depression is not who you are.
It’s a pattern — and patterns can change.

Healing doesn’t happen by fighting yourself.
It happens through safety, compassion, connection, and support.

You don’t have to do this alone.
And you don’t have to push any harder to be “enough”.

Two years in private practice 💜

What started as a leap of faith has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.
Over the past two years I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside so many brave, resilient people as they’ve done the hard work of healing, growing and finding their inner worth.

Thank you to every client who trusted me, every person who recommended me, and everyone who has supported Innerworth Counselling along the way. This work is a real honour.

Here’s to continuing to create safe spaces, meaningful conversations, and real change 🤍

Grateful beyond words 🤍
When someone trusts you with their story, their pain, and their healing, it is never something I take lightly.

Thank you for allowing me to walk alongside you, to hold space when things felt heavy, and to witness your strength even when you couldn’t see it yourself. Watching clients reconnect with themselves and move forward with hope is why I do this work.

Forever thankful for the trust, the courage, and the journey we shared 🌱✨

🌿 Professional Update 🌿

I’m pleased to share that Innerworth has begun working alongside Victim Support Homicide.

This role involves providing trauma-informed therapeutic support to individuals and families who have been affected by the loss of a loved one through homicide. It is deeply sensitive work, and one I approach with care, professionalism, and respect for each person’s unique experience of grief and trauma.

I’m grateful for the trust placed in me to support this work and remain committed to offering a safe, compassionate space for those navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.

Thank you to Victim Support for the important work they do and for the opportunity to contribute in this way.

How we heal from trauma — Part 2

Healing isn’t about pushing through or forcing yourself to talk.
It’s about safety, gentleness, and rebuilding trust with your body.

We heal by:
• creating safety and stability
• listening to the body
• processing emotions at a manageable pace
• unlearning survival patterns
• connecting and co-regulating
• practicing self-compassion

Healing happens in layers — and at your pace. 🌿

Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind it lives in the body.

Long after the danger has passed, the nervous system can stay on high alert, showing up as tension, fatigue, pain, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm.

These aren’t flaws. They’re survival responses.

Healing starts with safety, understanding the body, and working gently with the nervous system.

Healing after trauma isn’t about “moving on.”
It’s about safety, awareness, and compassion.

Those responses you learned were ways of surviving — not flaws.
Healing happens when the nervous system feels safe enough to soften.

You’re not broken.
You’re healing.

✨ Perfection doesn’t inspire people. Authenticity does. ✨

People aren’t moved by flawless lives.
They’re moved by honesty, resilience,
and how you meet yourself on the hard days.

Your imperfections aren’t the problem.
They’re part of the connection.

Anger is rarely the problem.
It’s the messenger.

Anger often shows up when pain has been ignored, minimised, or carried alone for too long.
It’s what steps in when sadness wasn’t allowed, when needs weren’t met, when feelings were unseen.

Under anger, there is usually:
💔 Hurt
😔 Grief
😞 Fear
🧸 Unmet needs
🤍 A part of us still hoping to be understood

When we only try to “control” anger, we miss the opportunity to listen to what it’s protecting.

Healing doesn’t begin by silencing anger.
Healing begins by gently asking:
What’s underneath this for me?

Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) isn’t “being too sensitive.”
It isn’t attention-seeking.
And it definitely isn’t a personality flaw.

RSD is an intense emotional response to real or perceived rejection or criticism. For some people, a small comment, a change in tone, or feeling overlooked can land in the body like deep emotional pain — sudden, overwhelming, and hard to regulate.

This is often seen alongside ADHD, neurodivergence, and trauma histories, particularly where rejection, bullying, or emotional neglect have been present. It’s the nervous system reacting fast to protect you not you “overreacting.”

People living with RSD often:
• Feel emotions very deeply
• Fear rejection or being a burden
• Struggle with self-worth
• Withdraw or people-please to stay safe

Understanding RSD matters.
Because when we name what’s happening, we move away from shame and towards compassion, regulation, and repair.

If this resonates, you’re not broken your system learned to survive.
