Satori - Workshops & Eco, Off-grid Accommodation, Somerset & Devon

Satori - Workshops & Eco, Off-grid Accommodation, Somerset & Devon I work with groups & one-to-one. Ever since my dad died in 2002 I began realising that I hadn’t been fulfilling my soul purpose in life. All, so healing.

As a Pesso Boyden psychotherapist, counsellor, basket weaver, reflexologist, wild-food-forager and nature enthusiast, I support people's wellbeing through rest, creativity and nature. I’d been doing what I thought was right rather than what my heart felt was right. This message was compounded when I had breast cancer in 2007. Since these two life changing experiences I’ve been following my dream,

literally, to evolve a healing retreat for people. That path has undoubtedly led me to connect with and understand the healing powers of Nature and the importance of being present. I’ve awakened to the wonderful world of edible wild food which Nature offers us in abundance, for free, with the exact properties we need relating to times of year, vitamins, minerals.... I’ve awakened to the wonderful world of Nature based crafts such as taking a bundle of willow sticks and turning them in to beautiful and practical baskets. I’ve awakened to the wonderful world of creative writing which helps me release nagging negative thoughts, become more sensually aware and again become more present. I’ve awakened to the wonderful world of Reflexology and its ability to help people relax and release, repair and restore their balance, and rest. And thanks to my dear friend Juliet, I’ve awakened to the amazing counseling technique Pesso Boyden (PBSP, Pesso Boyden System Psycomotor), which has truly transformed the way I weave through my daily life, more fluidly, releasing unhelpful patterns of behaviour, allowing me to become more fully who I am meant to be in this world. Life has its challenges, but, on the whole it is meant to be simple. We eat, need warmth and shelter, drink clean water, laugh, love, share stories, build relationship with each other and the land which surrounds and supports us....cry, get angry, grieve, love again...

I make mistakes and I aim to learn from them. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved to help people feel better. An awareness came to me of what they needed. I’m not sure how I knew certain things but I did. It’s this awareness that I’m evolving through my work at Satori and the surrounding land. Part of what I offer is to facilitate small groups, one to one workshops and bespoke retreats. I also offer Satori as a venue for other like-minded individuals to lead their own groups. Led by Nature and my heart’s desire I step forward ever gently upon this Earth which gave and gives me form, with all its beauty and ugliness. As I breathe, I listen.

Much needed revamp of my reflexology sign 🥳

I'm fascinated with how much fear and resistance I have around doing this, lots of internal voices putting me down 'you'll mess it up / you're no good / etc.' I've noticed generally I put things off because of them.

The good news is that I'm learning to override those unhelpful, critical voices - likely learned from my past - and replace them with encouraging messages like 'it's ok to make mistakes, you'll learn from them / you can always paint it over / enjoy exploring / etc.' - much healthier and empowering!

Do you find that you're limited by unhelpful, negative 'shoulds/shouldn'ts' ?

Maybe some mindful practice might help, such as a craft or walking, and/or exploring where they come from...once we have awareness we can choose if we want to change the old script.

Thanks mainly to Sue and John, and of course this delightful land, the water, sunshine, insects ... these are just some of the delicious crop we've feasted on this year 😋 even a cantaloupe melon!!!

Fresh tomatoes on toast are one of my favourites. Drizzled with olive oil, some red wine vinegar my dear friends Andrew and Jacqui made, salt, pepper and a sprinkling of cayenne - yum !

I guess we're finding these creatures because they're dead, like the deer, otherwise they'd be off exploring the land!

This is a common shrew. Probably dropped by an owl I imagine.

Apparently, according to the Wildlife Trust, they live life in the fast lane, needing to eat every 2-3 hours to survive, and only live for about a year!

On a perkier note, I did see a live one at Satori recently, scuttle across my path as I was chopping some firewood 🤗 such cute looking things 🙏

Have you seen one?

Brilliant volunteer day yesterday 🌻🌻🌻

I'm super glad they're happening again, 3rd Wednesday each month, 10-4pm.

I had such a heart-filled day 🤗 full of connection, friendship, nature, learning, laughing and sharing.

With the help of Nick, John and Sue, Tam, Mike and my lovely Rob, we achieved much: apples were picked; wood was sized and stacked; water tanks cleaned out; bonfire 🔥 pile now gone!; berries were picked; thistles were pulled; hand-rails progressed; and a feast was cooked - nearly entirely from veggies grown at Satori!!! Thanks Sue for stepping in at such short notice 🙏

Mike's wife Karen even baked us a delicious gluten-free almond cake 😋 thanks Karen!!!

Do get in touch if you'd like to join us.

Delighted with how this renovation went 😃

Someone made me this sign when I first started out as a reflexologist back in 2013!

It was rather worse for wear, but these brilliant (and cheap off eBay) acrylic pens have been perfect for bringing it back to life 👣🦶👣 plenty more tread left in it now 🤣

I hope life is treating you kindly.

Having a sort out and a tidy up 😀

Chopping up some old doors that are a bit rotten. Whatever can be used for firewood will be, locks and hinges salvaged, one door we'll turn into a shelf in our imminent water tower cupboard 🙏

And we've taken down an old log store to make way for the water tower. A good thing too as the log store was getting a bit wobbly!

Each time we do something I learn new and better ways. It's a bit hit and miss sometimes, but I love the creative aspect, sharing and achieving. Noticing energy shifts feels good.
..all mindful practice, as it stops me worrying about the 'other' stuff!

Protecting wildlife is absolutely forefront when I implement any management at Satori.

Despite braken making excellent compost (it breaks down to 50/50 carbon/nitrogen), it marches into the field at a rate that I find unmanageable to remove by hand...which is how I used to manage it!!

Too much braken takes light and nutrients from the other plants, so it has go 😞

Some say that knocking it back in August gets the best results. I'm yet to be convinced!

I turn to the strimmer for help 🙏 and of course whoever is willing to guide it round the field edges.

I'm very grateful as it's a 🥵 sweaty and hot job. Thanks Nick for making it seem like light work! He's doing a smashing, bashing great job 🤗
