🚤✨ Our residents enjoyed a “Close Shave” this week!

We had the most wonderful time aboard Close Shave, a beautiful narrowboat cruising along the Grand Union Canal in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. With champagne flowing and a delicious afternoon tea to enjoy, it was the perfect day out on the water — laughter, great company, and stunning views all around. 🥂🫖💜

🎶 While out enjoying a peaceful cruise on the beautiful Grand Union Canal, our residents thought it would be a lovely idea to send Orla a special video singing Happy Birthday!

🌟 This week our Hospitality Supervisor, Simon, brought Middle-earth to Hendon Hall! He gave a fascinating talk on one of his biggest passions - The Lord of the Rings books and films.

💡 Residents were captivated, asking questions, sharing thoughts, and loving every moment. It’s amazing when our team shares their passions – it brings energy, connection, and fresh experiences into our community.

🍿⚔️🧙‍♂️ The best part? Residents enjoyed it so much they’ve requested a Lord of the Rings cinema screening next week!

🍎🍯 Shana Tovah!

We’ve been celebrating Rosh Hashanah today with beautiful services, the sound of the shofar, and of course, sweet honey cake.

🍽️ Our chefs created an amazing bespoke menu for lunch which went down a treat with everyone.

🏆 Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge: Completed!

💪🏼 What an absolutely brutal experience. I’ll be honest, I completely underestimated how tough this would be! The weather was atrocious. Soaked through, winds howling, and fog so thick I didn't see a single view. But the real challenge wasn’t the weather, it was the mental battle. There were moments I thought I couldn’t go on, but I kept pushing, digging deeper than I ever thought possible.

⛰️ Through every step, I reminded myself of the bigger reason behind this which is raising funds for BRACE Dementia Charity. This isn't just about conquering a peak, it's about helping others who face far bigger challenges every day.

🙏🏼 Thank you to everyone who's donated so far. Your support means the world, and it's not too late to contribute! Every bit helps in the fight against dementia.

☀️ A Day by the Seaside ☀️

This week, our residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to Westcliff-on-Sea – the perfect spot for a classic British day out. From freshly made fish & chips to delicious ice cream, and even a touch of sunshine, the day was filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of seaside charm. 🌊🍦🐟

Our residents loved every moment, and it was a joy to see them soaking up the atmosphere and creating more special memories together. 💜

Our daily exercise classes are going from strength to strength as more and more of our residents are embracing the benefits of staying active and caring for their health. 🌟

A big thank you to James Lewis PT who keeps everyone moving, motivated, and smiling as he puts our residents through their paces! From stretching to strength work, there’s a wide variety of classes on offer every day of the week to suit all abilities and interests.

Remembering 3rd September 1939

On this date, King George VI declared war on Germany—two days after the invasion of Poland. France also declared war the same day, marking the beginning of WWII for the Allies.

Last week, our very own Simon led a special talk to mark this historic anniversary. Residents shared memories and stories, including a moving contribution from Sidney, making it a truly interactive and meaningful afternoon of remembrance. 🕊️
