1. Wrap up when you go outside. Thick, padded jackets or coats 🧥 Gloves and a scarf will also help!🧤 🧣

2. Drink plenty of hot drinks, ideally honey and lemon, decaffeinated tea or coffee, hot lemon water or fruit teas. 🫖 ☕️ 🍋

3. Move your body! Even simple, chair based exercises are great for your muscles and keeping your mind happy! 🧠 💪🏻 🏃‍♀️

🎃 A quick & easy pumpkin pie recipe to fill you up and keep you healthy this autumn! 🥧

So many of our clients say they miss baking so we’re using this simple recipe to ignite the baking bug again in our clients!
Don’t skip the spices - cinnamon is rich in antioxidants, it’s anti inflammatory and supports heart health! ♥️ 💪🏻 Ginger is great for digestion, boosting immunity and lowering blood sugars!

Ingredients: 🥧
1 (9 inch) single crust shop bought or homemade pastry
3 large eggs
100g granulated sugar
65g light brown sugar
450g homemade pumpkin puree
175ml whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

Cooking instructions: 📝
PREPARE CRUST
Roll out half of the pie dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie dish. Roll from the centre outwards for even thickness.

Place the dough into the pie dish and trim the edges to within 1 inch of the dish. Pop in the fridge while you prepare your filling.

PUMPKIN PIE FILLING: 🎃
Whisk the eggs and both sugars together until smooth. Add homemade pumpkin puree, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

BAKE THE PIE:
Preheat the oven to 220°C
Place the pie dish on your baking sheet and pour the pumpkin filling into the pie shell.
Bake the pumpkin pie at 220°C for 15 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 190°C and bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean!

Simple as that! Enjoy 😉 🥧 🎃

2. Wear layers to protect your body from the drop in temperature – Winter coat, warm socks, gloves and scarf. 🧣 🧦 🧤

3. Make sure your home is extreme weather ready – Torches, blankets, bottled water. 🔦 💧 🕯️

4. Stay active! – Move your body every hour to keep the blood pumping. 🧘🏻‍♀️ 🧹 🏃🏼

There are all sorts of activities you can do – physical, mental, social and creative – that help you to live well with dementia and improve wellbeing.
Follow a routine ⏰Daily or weekly practices like regular lunch outings can reduce anxiety
Take a car ride 🚙 Simple activities such as a short car journey can provide welcome respite
Watch an old movie 🎥 This can remind your loved one of a time when they felt comfortable
Listen to music 🎵 Favourite songs can help connect to them
Flowers 💐 Fresh flowers or plants can help brighten their day
Help write a letter 💌Help to express feelings to family and friends.

If you care for someone who has dementia, a shared activity can make both of you happier and able to enjoy quality time together.
