A pattern I’ve noticed this week is that people who’ve been looking for answers for their problem for a long time just stop moving freely

Everything becomes a bit more careful and a bit more tentative and they second guessing every movement without even realising they’re doing it

And your body takes this all on whether you realise it or not

When an injury keeps coming back then it makes complete sense to keep looking for answers

So you go for more appointments and get more info. You’re thinking the right answer must be out there somewhere!

But your body isn’t just waiting for the right treatment.

It’s running on a belief about what’s safe and what isn’t in that area. And that belief has never been looked at during any of those appointments

You haven’t been looking in the wrong places. You’ve just been looking at the wrong problem!

Have you got your ticket yet? FINAL TIER 3 TICKET PRICES GO UP on Monday 4th May 📣

Many of us are guilty of powering through with re-occurring niggles so we're delighted to welcome back Alexandra Johnson from PhysioFit-GB - founder of The Movement Hacking Project on Friday 12th June.

💫 The Movement Hacking Project Talk - Friday - Coach House

"I'll be giving a talk on The Movement Hacking Project. Something I built from my own experience of being born with Klippel-Trénaunay Syndrome and told at 13 I'd never run or have normal function again in my left leg. I've since completed the Marathon des Sables and raced at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships as an elite athlete.

In this talk I'll be sharing why the same injury, pain or restriction keeps coming back even when you've followed the rehab plans and tried everything.

Because most of the time the problem isn't the symptom. It's the pattern underneath it."

At this point it’s not about answers, you already know this isn’t working

But you keep going back for another appointment and another round of rehab

and nothing changes because you’re still not making a decision

A pattern I’ve noticed this week is…….

that rest teaches your body exactly what you didn’t mean to teach it

You’ve probably been easing off every time something niggles and when it settles down and you think “great, sorted!” and you go back to training and it comes straight back!

And now your body’s become really good at protecting that area so it doesn’t even need you think about it anymore it just does it automatically

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying rest isn’t wrong!!

It’s just that every time you do it your body goes “oh OK so this area still isn’t safe then” and it just keeps adding to what it already believes

This is the bit I find myself explaining a lot!

When something hurts your nervous system doesn’t make a note of it and move on. It stores it as evidence that this bit needs keeping safe next time

So you rest and the pain settles so you think amazing!

But your nervous system is still in protection mode…..Just in case

And so when you get back to training your body just picks straight back up. Because the pattern underneath it hasn’t gone anywhere

Rest isn’t the problem and I’m not saying don’t rest. It’s just that it was never really going to sort it because the minute you went back to training your body just went oh here we go again

How many times have you rested an injury, it then felt better and then gone back to training only for it to come straight back again? 👇🏼

My “leg” story has just been published in .mag and I’m sharing it here because it’s not about “if I can do it so can you.”

My story is about becoming the best version of yourself even if your body doesn’t fit the norm or move the way it’s meant to compared to a textbook.

When I was 13 after major surgery on my leg I was told I’d never be able to run, walk normally or have normal function with my leg. That was a sentence I lived with for years not because it was true but because I believed it.

If you don’t challenge those “sentences” you stay stuck not just with movement and function but in life.

I’ve lived with my leg since I was born so I don’t know any different. And I changed my movement and function and the narrative I was given not from a short-term fix but from something that actually lasts.

We hear this everywhere and it’s true……start small, build the habit and stay consistent and your movement and your function will change over time.

I changed my life and now I help other people change their movement and function so they can do the things they’ve been told (or believe) their bodies can’t

If it keeps coming back every time you go back to training it’s not a rest problem….

It’s a pattern your body is still running and rest is never going to change that

A pattern I keep noticing is that the most powerful thing running your body isn’t pain or an injury or even fear.

It’s a sentence someone gave you that you never went back and questioned

When I was 13 I had major surgery on my left leg. I was born with a rare vascular condition ( klippel-trenauney syndrome) and after the surgery I was told I would never have normal function in that leg

I was 13 so I just did as I was told

But at some point I stopped accepting that sentence as the final word on what my body could do

And I completed the Marathon des Sables on that leg. And I raced at 2 Ironman 70.3 World Championships on that leg

I’m not saying the surgeon was wrong at the time. But that sentence was based on what they knew in that moment

Not on what I was going to do with my body over the next 20+yrs!

And that’s what I see with the people I work with all the time.
Living inside a sentence that was given to them by someone who saw them once and never followed up

The sentence doesn’t get to be the final word. Your body does!!

Someone said something to you once and you just went along with it, you just accepted it….

You didn’t even question it

And then without really ever noticing, you started building your life around that one sentence!

Now it just feels normal to you

13/04/2026

The anger isn’t aimed at your body

It’s actually that you listened to one sentence from one appointment and it’s stayed with with you ever since!

If you want to really understand what your body actually needs to hear that’s what my Movement Audits are for
