Eating every 3 hours on a Deficit is the most difficult way!

Here’s the deal: your body can’t burn fat when there’s food in your stomach. To use body fat as fuel, your stomach needs to be empty for a while. When you’re constantly eating, your body prioritises digesting the food. It’s during the night when the stomach is empty the body gets time to switch gears and burn that stored fat.

Feeling hungry?

Feeling hungry (where you could just about eat anything) is very much controlled by your blood sugar levels. So as your blood sugar goes down it causes these pangs of hunger that are pretty much impossible to ignore.

So when you’re on a calorific deficit and eating every 2-3 hours, your body is continually busy digesting food.

It tries to get your caloric needs from the food, but when it can’t do that as there isn’t enough, it will leech glycogen out of your muscles (making them smaller/flatter) to meet the need.

As the body is underfed and your blood sugar moves every 2-3hours – you will feel unbearably weak and starving. Trying to keep that up long-term is a nightmare and also very difficult.

Not Feeling Hungry

Have you noticed other times in your life when you haven’t eaten for quite a while but still don’t feel hungry? Why is that?

Eating every 2-3 hours leaves you feeling starving and ultra focused on food.

So, how have you managed to experience these spaces where you haven’t eaten for hours yet don’t feel hungry?

Answer

When your blood sugar is levelled out low, you won’t feel hungry until you kick off the hunger cycle by eating something, then sure enough, 2 hours later, you will feel hungry again.

BodyFat Burn Rule

Your body cannot burn the body fat on your body and use it as fuel when there is food in your stomach. So your stomach and intestines must be empty, this will make your insulin and blood sugar levels even out low. That’s when the body will switch engines and use your body fat as fuel.

Eureka Moment

So we know the stomach has to be empty to burn body fat, we know the stomach being empty also causes fewer hunger pangs.

Instead of suffering from the eating every 2-3 hours method of cutting / dieting.

Why not just finish eating by 830-9pm

Then live on water, tea, coffee, 0 calorie no sugar soya/oat milk, 0 calorie fizzy drinks, until 1230-1pm the next day.

Then, say no to the low-calorie stuff, and eat three good meals that fill the stomach so the body feels fed. Eat those three meals between 1230-1pm til 830-9pm

It would be best to eat as many calories as you burn daily as a good starting point. Then, check 7 days later to see if you lost body fat.

If not, drop daily food intake by 200 calories for the next 7 days and check your weight then.

And just like that, you’ve embarked on a more sustainable weight loss journey!

Your body can't burn fat when there's food in your stomach.

I believe there is no such thing as overtraining, only under recovery. Do you agree?

I respectfully disagree, training in the gym or doing anything quite physical will shock the central nervous system and it’s that part of you that needs the recovery. Fatiguing the CNS and then going back and doing it again the next day never gives the CNS a chance to recover, it’s an area of training I hardly ever see anyone talk about, it’s become one of the fundamentals to the way I train.

I’d been training for about 10 years and from the photos you honestly couldn’t tell!

Then once I got really deep into meditation after a visit to Rishi Kesh I started tapping into the way the unconscious mind controls every single part of you, your heart beat, it regulates your hormones, decides whether you burn fat or burn glycogen . The list goes on.

I’d look around me and see all these 80 year old yogis in the Himalayas doing head stands and being super flexible with strong physiques. They had health and longevity down and you never saw them jogging or running, or anything super taxing to the CNS.

When I spoke to them about going for a run they were like ‘are you crazy what are you running from? To them it was telling your unconscious mind you were in danger, that part of you doesn’t know you’ve gone for a run. It just thinks your running you must be in danger. And that’s how the central nervous system gets super stimulated.

I used the example of running here but it’s the same for lifting heavy weights. A lot of runners and weight lifters have heart issues when they get older and heart attacks go up around Marathons.

If you had a car with only one set of car parts to last it it’s whole life, would you really thrash that car around? Accelerating, putting loads of miles on the motor? You just wouldn’t do that.

But for some reason we think we can do this with our bodies, that our bodies will just adapt.

Yes they will adapt but at a price in longevity of those body parts. The body is not that adaptable especially to lifting heavy loads on a regular basis. The stress on your central nervous is intense. Your subconscious that controls your heartbeat and blood pressure and everything else – would only put your body though that in an emergency, a life threatening emergency.

So your CNS fatigues and lifting heavy weights can cause micros tears in the heart as well as in the muscle and tendons and joints.

As an activity It’s just not conducive to good health. People don’t realise that because of the metaphor of ‘no pain no gain’ they block themselves off from their body signals. Same goes for intense cardio, revving your heart rate up for long durations is intensely stressful on the heart and releases a bucket load of cortisol into your system.

Cortisol causes your cells to act out of character, surgeons use it to when transplanting organs to ensure the body doesn’t reject the new organ. The cortisol stops the cells from reacting normally. Depression and alcohol release cortisol so why would you want to do that at the gym too? Cortisol prevents your immune response and long endurance sessions of cardio can give you elevated cortisol levels for days after.

Every cell in your body is completely replaced every 7 years. The you reading this is a biologically completely different collection of cells than you were 7 years ago. It’s the reason people look different every 7 years. The new you is a photocopy of those old cells, cortisol in your body causes that photocopy to be of less quality , so you will appear to age quicker.

Do you get what I’m saying now about how off everything is at the moment in the world? It’s not just the draconian systems and governments we live under that are a ghost of our past level of consciousness, we’re cut off from our bodies as well, even those that go to the gyms. We’re not consciously aware of what’s good for our bodies so we just kick the crap out of them instead.
