I’ve heard some strange ideas over the years.. sleep myths make me mad! 🤯This is because when parents are sleep deprived and desperate for sleep, 😴😴 especially if they are parenting on their own, they are willing to try anything! Telling a vulnerable, tired and emotional parent to try something that ultimately will probably not work is misleading, unethical and likely to create feelings of failure and further desperation to try anything. Sleep myths can often sound like they might be sensible so working out what is a myth or truth can be tricky.. let’s get real with kids sleep versus parental expectations!

I began Nurture Sleep Repeat to provide help for families struggling with sleep, based on a holistic approach that puts wellbeing at the heart of my practice. My aim is to act as a guide and mentor providing calming support and nurturing advice for your baby’s sleep, from birth to beyond. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Having now left my nursing career, I have retrained in Paediatric sleep, working initially within a well established Sleep and Behaviour Coaching Consultancy where I gained a wealth of experience before undertaking further studies via the pioneering EDS Advanced Paediatric Sleep Practitioner training course which provides the most comprehensive and rigorous training available accredited by the OCN at level 5 and level 6. With a commitment to providing and using evidence based practice to optimise sleep via gentle and responsive methods whilst supporting a strong parent/child attachment, Nurture Sleep Repeat was born.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I believe that by helping to set realistic expectations for sleep, being mindful of existing parenting principals and beliefs, empowering parents to really identify what it is they wish for their child, rather than what society or the internet tells them they should be doing, will help to enrich their parenting journey and take back control in a gently supported and nurturing way. Parents today have a tough time knowing what they should be doing when it comes to their child’s sleep. How much, when, where and what’s normal? All too often, a solution is offered for a baby’s sleep ‘problem’. ‘Solutions’ suggest that your baby needs “fixing”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
​⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s important to remember that you are your baby’s expert, trusting your instincts is important, there is no handbook on how to do this the ‘right way’. Nurture Sleep Repeat will help you set realistic expectations around your infant’s sleep, all steeped in evidence-based practice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I believe that giving parents tools that can develop alongside the growth of their child, is more realistic than providing a one-off sleep strategy. My holistic approach focuses on the wider components of family wellbeing, mental health and sleep patterns. Without all of these elements being considered, sleep cannot, and will not improve.
