On Friday 19th September at 10am, we’ll be taking on our very own Memory Walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

We’ll set off from Henley Manor Care Home, follow a beautiful route along the River Thames, and return – a total of 5 miles. The walk has been carefully mapped out so that our residents can join us too, and we’d love for as many friends, families, and community members as possible to walk alongside us.

🕤 Arrival time: 9:45am | 🚶‍♀️ Walk begins: 10:00am

✨ Today marked the launch of our Songs and Smiles Baby Group at Henley Manor Care Home!

Intergenerational connections play such an important role in dementia care, and it was truly heartwarming to see so many little ones bringing joy, laughter, and energy to our residents this morning. 💛

At Henley Manor, we’re committed to supporting not only our residents but also the wellbeing of our dedicated team.

Over the past 12–18 months, we’ve been carrying out a Home Action Research project exploring what support our teams need when caring for residents at the end of life.

One of the initiatives that grew from this work is our monthly “Friday Feel and Heal” sessions. These sessions give our colleagues a safe space to reflect, process emotions through creative activities, and prioritise their own mental health while navigating the challenges of end-of-life care.

By looking after our team, we ensure they feel supported, valued, and equipped to continue delivering compassionate care when it matters most.

☀️ Staying Cool in the Heatwave ☀️

We hope you’re enjoying the sunshine — but remember, it’s just as important to keep yourself watered as it is your garden! 🌿💧

Our wonderful residents have shared their top tips for staying safe and comfortable in the heat:

1️⃣ Stay out of the midday sun – it’s strongest between 11am and 3pm.
2️⃣ Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water and enjoy a refreshing ice lolly or ice cream. 🍦
3️⃣ Keep it shady – close curtains and blinds to block out direct sunlight.
4️⃣ Feel the breeze – keep a fan nearby for a cooling boost.

Stay cool, look after each other, and let’s make the most of these sunny days safely!

Henley Manor is the newest addition to the Hallmark Care Homes family. Due to open in December 2019 it will be a beautiful, purpose-built, 80-bedroom care home in Henley-on-Thames offering high standards of residential, nursing and dementia care.

Henley Manor will have a vibrant atmosphere designed to help residents get the most out of life, and we’ll be there to support them. We will have a packed activities calendar to suit all tastes and abilities. From Tai Chi and exercise classes for keeping active to flower arranging, painting and music sessions to keep the creative juices flowing, there will be lots on offer for residents to get involved with and activities are tailored to meet individual needs.
