Here's a couple of REALLY easy setup-and-forget methods...
For Windows Laptops:

Use the File History method. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup, and then add a drive to back up your files.

For Mac Users:

Use the Time Machine feature. Go to System Preferences > Time Machine, and select your backup disk to keep your data safe.

There are plenty of "Cloud" options too, but that's a whole separate post!

By regularly backing up your data, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your important files are secure. Let’s start the new year with a clean slate and protected data!

As we get into the festive spirit this Christmas, it's more important than ever to stay informed about common scams. Knowledge is your best defence against cyber threats. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Phishing Emails:

What is it?: Phishing emails are fraudulent messages that appear to come from a trustworthy source, like your bank or a popular website.

How it works: These emails often ask you to click on a link or provide personal information, such as passwords or credit card numbers.

Example: You might receive an email claiming to be from your bank, asking you to verify your account information by clicking on a link. This link could lead to a fake website that looks exactly like your bank's site, tricking you into entering your details.

Tip: Always look out for spelling errors and unusual requests. Never click on links or download attachments from unknown sources. If in doubt, contact the company directly using a phone number you know is legitimate.

Unsolicited Calls:

What is it?: Scammers often make unsolicited phone calls posing as tech support or representatives from reputable companies.

How it works: They try to gain your trust and then ask for remote access to your computer or personal information.

Productivity: If you need to set up a new device or recover from a crash, having your licences on hand means you can get back to work quickly without any unnecessary downtime.

After a season of online shopping and new accounts, it's the perfect time to review and reinforce your password security. This might not be the most exciting task, but it's one of the most crucial for your digital safety!

Use Strong, Unique Passwords: Avoid using easily guessed information. Combine upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Don't Reuse Passwords: A breach on one site shouldn't compromise all your accounts.

Consider a Password Manager: These tools securely store your complex passwords and can generate new ones for you.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of security that requires a second form of verification, like a code sent to your phone.
