Learning to Co-regulate with your child is a skill that you will be able to draw on during stressful times. It helps children and adults to manage emotions while maintaining connection. It will also help children to grow with a sense of security and the ability to eventually self-regulate. Surely, if you are the parent or the child, this is something we could all use regardless of age.

Trauma can be caused by any negative experience a person has been through. This can be so many things, such a death of a loved one or breaking a bone. These experiences can be stored in parts of the brain, which can cause tension throughout life.

I'm currently on maternity leave and have been thinking about how the experience of a traumatic birth can be stored in a young infant - this can display in tension such as colic and tantrums!

There are many ways to help children who have experienced a trauma. Play therapy is a great intervention to help children in a child-friendly way!
