A Beautiful Mind – A Beautiful Day 🌿🧠

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of attending ‘A Beautiful Mind’, a powerful seminar hosted by the brilliant BioCare team at the tranquil Penny Brohn Cancer Centre near Bristol.

Expertly led by Alessandro Ferretti and Debbi Pyke, the day explored the many threads connecting mental health, stress, emotional resilience, and behavioural change—all beautifully interwoven with inspiring pieces of classic art.

I came away with renewed confidence and deeper insight into how we, as Nutritional Therapists, can support clients who are struggling with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, depression, and anxiety—particularly through the lens of inflammation, mitochondrial function, and cellular health.

This is where functional medicine truly shines 💡

Your hormones regulate so many functions in the body, not just in when (or if) you get your period or when you feel those hot flushes. They also dictate how fast your metabolism is, how hungry (or full) you feel, how sexy you feel, whether you will gain or lose weight, and they even let you know when it’s time to go to bed.
Our hormones talk to each other continually, and they are potent – there's a constant but delicate dance going on.
Your hormones can be disrupted by the toxins you absorb, how much stress you’re under, a poor diet, lifestyle choices, and your weight.

How do you know if your hormones are out of balance?

Every day, I hear from women who are struggling with hot flushes, joint pain, crippling anxiety, depression, weight gain, memory loss, mood swings, amongst many other peri- and menopause symptoms.
