Breaking barriers in Men’s Health, right here in Hereford.

We were recently honoured to welcome Mayor Daniel Powell as our guest of honour to officially open our One Stop Prostate Service at The Wye Clinic Hereford. Our service offers same-day diagnostic testing for men's urological concerns - with no GP referral needed.

Our Urology and Prostate service is led by renowned local consultants Mr Christian Nayar and Mr Wasim Mahmalji, who bring extensive experience and specialist expertise in men’s urological health.

Our team can help with a range of concerns including:

✅ Sexual symptoms
✅ Urological pain and discomfort

The official opening was a truly special occasion, attended by Herefordshire Prostate Cancer Support Group (HPCSG), local businesses, and members of the community. The Support Group shared moving insights on the importance of early detection and the vital work they do to normalise the conversation around prostate cancer - ensuring patients and their families feel supported, informed, and guided throughout every stage of their journey.

The launch of this service marks an important step forward for men’s health in Herefordshire. By working together with our community and groups like HPCSG, we’re breaking down barriers and making it easier for men to get the care they need, when they need it.

Today, we were delighted to welcome Peter McCann and John Mills from Herefordshire Prostate Cancer Support Group (HPCSG) to The Wye Clinic.

As a passionate and growing committee, HPCSG is dedicated to normalising the conversation around prostate cancer, ensuring patients and their families feel supported, informed, and guided throughout every stage of their journey.

During the meeting, we shared ideas on how we can collaborate to better support the local community. Peter and John were given an overview of the services we offer at The Wye Clinic that complement the needs of those receiving support from HPCSG. These include PSA blood testing, bladder scans, urine flow rate and urinalysis assessments, prostate ultrasound, and flexible cystoscopy—services designed to support early detection and tailored care for a range of urological and prostate-related conditions.

A varied and valuable Training Day for our whole team!

Last week, we brought together our clinical and non-clinical teams for a full day of learning, reflection, and development at the clinic.

The agenda was a balanced mix of mandatory training and specialist-led sessions, designed to keep us informed, compliant, and inspired across all areas of our work.

💡 To brilliant sessions on Urology, Menopause, General Surgery, Dermatology — led by our very own experts.

We've gone digital in our clean room 💻✨

Our brief and de-brief process is a key part of maintaining patient safety and team communication - ensuring everyone is aligned before and after each procedure.

Now, instead of paper forms, we’re using an iPad to capture this vital information. This improves efficiency, reduces the risk of lost data, and supports our commitment to reducing paper waste and promoting sustainability.
