St Michael's Hospice - Hereford St Michael's Hospice is an independent charity that exists to help, support and care for patients

As a charity, we need to raise over £5.8 million a year to ensure we can continue to provide our care and support for free. 74% of this funding comes from our local community through donations and fundraising events. Our multi-disciplinary team includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, complementary therapists, social workers, chaplains and counsellors. Specialist Hospice staff work together and often in partnership with the NHS to relieve patients’ symptoms, control their pain and help them to live well until the end of life. We provide Inpatient services, hospice daycare and support for patients in a range of settings, including their homes. We are also there to ensure loved ones have access to the appropriate care and support they need to cope with the complex feelings and lifestyle changes caused by a terminal illness. St Michael’s Hospice provides all its care free of charge to patients, their families and carers. This care is made possible by supporters taking part in fundraising events, playing our lottery, shopping at our retail outlets, making charitable donations and leaving gifts in their wills.

🐬 Remember the dolphin sculpture kindly donated by FlaktGroup UK, formerly Denco? Michael and his colleague Liz recently visited to see their marine mate settling in at St Michael’s Hospice, Bartestree.

Commissioned 25 years ago by Denco to celebrate their new logo, the artwork by local artist Helen Vasbenter has had quite a journey, from Holmer Road to Moreton-on-Lugg, and now proudly on display for everyone to enjoy.

“I’ve always thought it should be seen by as many people as possible, so relocating it to St Michael’s felt perfect,” said Michael Hackman, Flakt Group.

🎵✨ A moment of pure magic at St Michael’s.

When our Therapeutic Harpist, Diana, stopped by to fill the ward with music, Colin, one of our patients decided to give it a go. 💛

“I played the guitar about 50 years ago, but never the harp,” he smiled. “It was a really lovely moment.” 🎶

Moments like this remind us that hospice care isn’t what you think, it’s full of life, laughter, and unexpected joy.
