Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025
Thursday 9 - Wednesday 15 October

Throughout the week the ribbon memorial will be in place on the west gates of Hereford Cathedral and at the County Hospital. You are invited to tie a ribbon in memory of babies gone too soon. We suggest white, pink or blue.

On Wednesday 15 October, to mark the end of baby loss awareness week we welcome all families and friends to attend a vigil service at the cathedral. We will light candles at 7 pm to join in with the global wave of light.

Today marks Grief Awareness Day ~ A reminder that grief is a natural, deeply human experience that touches us all in different ways.

There’s no “right” way to grieve, but there are gentle steps we can take to support ourselves through the waves: whether it’s talking with a trusted friend, journaling, honouring memories, moving your body, or simply giving yourself permission to rest.

If you’re grieving, know you’re not alone. If someone you love is grieving, your presence matters more than perfect words. Together, we can make space for healing, remembrance, and hope. 🤍

We recently attended a personal funeral at South Leicestershire Crematorium and were struck by the beauty and tranquillity of the grounds. With its peaceful ponds, well-kept gardens, and vibrant plant life, it offered a gentle and comforting space to reflect and remember. A truly serene setting for saying goodbye to a loved one 🩵

A Small Act, A Lifetime of Love 🤍

In the tender moments of farewell, it is often the smallest gestures that leave the greatest imprint on the heart.
A fingerprint, handprint, a lock of hair, a token of ashes.
These keepsakes may take only a moment for us to prepare, but they bring lasting comfort to those left behind.

We always ask our families if they would like us to take a fingerprint or a lock of hair from their loved one. Not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to preserve something deeply meaningful.
It is a simple act, offered with love and care.

There is great power in memory. These small treasures serve as gentle reminders that love does not end. It simply changes form.
