Marches Counselling Service

Marches Counselling Service A charity providing professional, confidential and affordable counselling and psychotherapy service for people in Herefordshire.

We don't have a waiting list and match client to counsellor. We also offer a professional network group for therapists. Marches Counselling Service is a charity that provides affordable, flexible and ethical support to adults in Herefordshire who are struggling with life issues. We provide a safe place to talk: daytimes, evenings and even Saturdays. People can contact us directly to arrange an initial appointment of up to 90minutes, ongoing sessions are agreed at that meeting, if counselling is the right way forward. As Hereford is a small city, we do not offer a drop-in service, but arrange appointments in advance to preserve privacy and anonymity. Our office is staffed Mondays – Fridays between 10am – 1pm. Outside of those hours people can leave a message on our confidential telephone answer machine.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, ‘Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner.’ I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”
Carl Rogers

We rarely look at a sunset and think it should be different.
Yet, we often look at ourselves or others with constant critique.

Rogers’ words remind us how quick we can be to judge, correct, or compare. What if we offered ourselves the same kindness we give to a sunset?

What if we allowed our feelings, our flaws, our growth and our humanity to simply be, without trying to perfect every corner?

We offer a space where you don’t have to get everything “right.”
A space free from judgement, where you can explore your thoughts and emotions with gentleness and curiosity.

Sundays can feel peaceful… or they can feel like the weight of Monday is already creeping in.
If you’re someone who feels that knot in your stomach as the weekend ends, this is for you.

Here’s a gentle reminder:

📌 You don’t need to be fully ready for Monday
📌 You don’t need to have everything under control
📌 You don’t need to feel motivated
📌 You only need one small, manageable step

Try choosing one thing for tomorrow, not the whole day, not the whole week.
A slow start is still a start.

If Monday mornings feel overwhelming more often than not, talking to someone can help you understand what’s underneath that pressure and find ways to make the week more manageable.

You are not alone in this and you don’t have to carry it by yourself.

In nature, a rose doesn’t rush its bloom. It opens petal by petal, in its own time, responding to the light, the warmth, and the care around it.

At Marches Counselling Service, we believe people deserve that same gentle space to unfold.

Some seasons feel thorny.
Some days feel like tight buds that won’t quite open. With the right support, understanding and patience, growth becomes possible again... quietly, steadily, beautifully.

If you’re navigating a difficult chapter or simply longing to feel more like yourself, we’re here to walk alongside you.

We have some glorious sunsets in Herefordshire. Watching the sunset, taking a little time to look at, unwind and really take in the wonder of nature, can help reduce stress and improve mood. Watching a sunset can be an opportunity to reflect, put things into perspective and feel calm, even for a short time. Therapeutic in itself.

If you are struggling and looking for other therapeutic approaches from a trained professional, we are a charity which provides affordable, confidential counselling. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions a client attends. Contact us via admin@marchescounselling.org or our website www.marchescounselling.org where you will also find a form to start counselling with us.

This feedback came from the Mum of one of our younger ex-clients.

Occasionally concerned parents contact us about their adult children. It's important we maintain confidentiality even in these situations and that the younger persons privacy is respected, their attendance and issues remain confidential. Although we are also here to support other family members if needed.

There are occasions when clients from the same family wish to be seen together and we can accommodate that. Equally, there are times when several members of a family see our counsellors and we don't know if they are aware of each others situation so we arrange for them to see different counsellors at very different times/days. In all these cases, we maintain confidentiality and a professional approach and leave it to the individual to decide what they share with others.

Do get in touch if you'd like to know more about counselling for individuals or a couple from the same family which could be partners, Mum and daughter/son, Father and daughter/son or step parents and children etc. Ring 01432 279906 or email admin@marchescounselling.org or get in touch via our website www.marchescounselling.org.

The phase "Don't let someone rent space in your head unless they are a good tenant" has so much meaning. It may be a work colleague, friend, relative or even yourself saying or doing negative things which you mull over and overthink. Learn to recognise and manage influences on you which have this affect and try to develop and choose more positive relationships, interpretations, situations or thoughts.

If you are struggling with your mental health, we are a charity providing affordable, professional, confidential counselling. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions you attend. Our contact information is on our website www.marchescounselling.org where there's also a new request for counselling form.

Flowers can have a significant impact on mental health, especially ones like these in such a cheerful colour.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, where screens dominate our attention and the pace of life seems to quicken every day, finding moments of calmness can be a challenge. One timeless activity that many find solace in is enjoying nature, a garden and flowers. Enjoying their beauty and aroma can enhance mood, encourage calmness, induce relaxation, reduce strength and improve mental health. Of course giving or possibly even better, receiving them, can be wonderful too!

If you are struggling and looking for therapeutic approaches from a trained professional, we are a charity which providea affordable, confidential counselling. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions a client attends. Contact us in the office on 01432 279906 or email admin@marchescounselling.org or get in touch via our website www.marchescounselling.org where you will find an online form to start counselling.

This lovely feedback came to us from an ex-clients Mum.

If you are struggling or know someone who is, we are here for you. We offer face to face counselling in Hereford, Bromyard and Ross. We also offer online counselling if getting to one of those locations is an issue.

When you initiate counselling with us, your first appointment is an assessment. At that we discuss your issues and concerns from which we can work out which therapeutic approach and which of our 20 counsellors is the best fit for you. It's important that you have the right counsellor for you.

Do get in touch if you'd like to know more. Ring 01432 279906 or email development@marchescounselling.org or get in touch via our website www.marchescounselling.org.

Mothers Day is tomorrow so there is a lot of talk in the media and reminders about it in the shops.

It's not always a positive time though. Perhaps you lost your Mum recently and are still struggling to come to terms with the impact on your life. Perhaps you don't get on with your Mum and the relationship is difficult. Perhaps you are adopted and don't know who your birth Mum is but would like to. Perhaps you are a new Mum yourself and trying to get to grips with the impact of that and changes in your life that have happened as a result of Motherhood. Perhaps you are a Mum or Dad yourself and struggle with the balance of being a parent whilst having or possibly caring for your Mum too?

Here at Marches Counselling Service we recognise that World and National events such as Mothers day, although portrayed as very positive, can be much more complicated for an individual.

If you are struggling for any reason, we are here for you. As a charity we provide affordable, professional and of course confidential counselling independent of the NHS. Our contact details are on www.marchescounselling.org/contact-us and there's a form for starting counselling with us there too!
