🌸 Real Birth Story – Saanvi's Journey 🌸

I discovered The Real Birth Digital Workshop through my maternity notes and decided to do the full course.

My actual birth happened in theatre but when I first went to my hospital, I was offered a vaginal examination to check my cervix as my waters head released around baby. At this time I was 1 cm open, I decided to stayed at the hospital and wasn’t sent home. I was admitted to the antenatal ward and stayed there for about 14 hours before moving into my birthing room.

At this point my waters had been released for over 32 hours with no signs of labour starting, so I was recommended an induction of labour, which I agreed to. Once the induction has started I laboured for around 18 hours in the birthing room.

During this time, I used a mix of gas and air and breathing techniques, and as my labour progressed I decided to use the epidural to help me with my labour tightening's. Later on in my birth we decided that as birth was taking longer that I may need some help and my baby was born via an unplanned caesarean in labour.

After birth, we went to the postnatal ward, where we stayed for more than 48 hours for some extra care and checks.

RealBirth really shaped my journey. I completed all of it and honestly rate it 10/10. It gave me the confidence, knowledge, and calm I needed.

Norfolk & Waveney ICB partnered with The Real Birth Company to deliver an inclusive antenatal education offer — both digital and face-to-face.

✅ 30% of the birthing community engaged in the first quarter
✅ Highest use in areas of deprivation (50% of users in Great Yarmouth were IMD 1–3)
Real Birth is helping maternity teams reach more families, more fairly.
