A little patch we did last year looking green 🌳 🌺

It's been six months since we removed a block of non-native conifer at Blackhouse Wood and look how well the plants are responding! Where there was bare earth and pine needles, there's now a thick carpet of grasses, woodland flowers and sedges. Amongst these are regrowing shrubs like hazel and young saplings like wild service, ash and yew. We were able to purchase this ancient woodland in 2015, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund 🙂

We are looking for someone to join the team based at our yard located between Fownhope and Much Marcle.

We are looking for a proactive, responsible and independent worker, who is keen to get involved with a hands on attitude.

Predominately yard based - processing firewood and wood products, making charcoal, grading, bagging and packaging orders. To include deliveries during busy periods (if over 25 and clean licence for insurance).

Training can be provided such as: Emergency First Aid + Forestry, chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting, tele-handler operator.

Standard hours would be 08.30-16.30 this can be either part or full time to suit.

PAYE, pension, 28 days holiday per year, starting at £9.50 per hour depending on experience.

It’s physical outdoor job, with an exciting range of work, so experience using tractors, machinery and chainsaws and some mechanical experience would be of an advantage, but a great opportunity for learning as we are happy to provide support to individuals.

Woodee cooking and skills dates for this year, come and join in or you can buy them for a gift.

OUTDOOR COOKING & SKILLS DAY.

Do you love the outdoors and would like to learn how to cook delicious food outside over a fire? Or maybe you've recently purchased a Woodee and wanted to develop your outdoor cooking skills.

A Woodee Experience day is a fantastic opportunity to learn cooking skills and techniques. Throughout the day, you will cook a number of different dishes; on the grill, in the fire pit base and on the cooking tray/lid. A hands-on experience which is suitable for beginners and those with more experience.

Upcoming dates:
10th June - 4 fire pits remaining
11th June - 1 fire pit remaining
29th July - 5 fire pits remaining
30th July - 4 fire pits remaining

Dates are also available in August & September

£250 per fire pit, with up to 2 people per fire pit.

(Un)-expected item in our bagging area, well, she was expected.

We welcomed little Nell over Easter weekend, four weeks have gone like a click of the fingers.

So much thanks to the guys keeping Birchwood running smoothly whilst I flew in and out of the yard!
