This…is the bit you don’t see 😅 Last week, it really hit me just how nervous I get when it comes to filming my stretch and Pilates routines.
When I’m teaching a face-to-face class, everything feels natural. I have the energy of the room, the connection with my wonderful clients, the little moments of eye contact and smiles. We bounce off each other and it creates that vibe that makes teaching feel easy and enjoyable. I love that connection!
But when it’s just me, a camera in front of me and …. silence… it suddenly feels very, very different. There’s nothing to feed off, no one to bounce my energy back and forth with. It can actually feel quite intimidating, and sometimes I catch myself thinking, “Can I actually do this?” 🙈
In a live class, whenever I stumble over a cue or make a mistake, we can laugh about it and it’s just so free and easy to move on from. On camera though, it feels very much more exposed. Every tongue tie, every wrong movement. The camera captures absolutely everything and there are no distractions — just you and the recording. That can feel uber frustrating at times. (And editing can’t fix that!!)
That said, I am getting better with practice. Confidence on camera is definitely something that grows over time, and I keep having to remind myself that it’s okay to still be learning. I’m only human after all.
Despite the nerves, my on-demand class library is slowly but surely growing, which I’m really proud of and soon, with that extra boost of confidence, I look forward to expanding it further with more class opportunities and more variety so you can get the most out of the on demand class experience.
(On that note, NEW incoming stretch flow online crew!)
