A little take back to a Prague Christmas 🇨🇿

Super busy first week back to work so what better way to think about a holiday that happened over Christmas to drown out those back to work blues 😆

𝗦𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁?

😮‍💨 9 out of 10 of us experience high or extreme stress with 1 in 5 of us needing to take time out of work…

🏃🏽‍♂️ More and more of us are turning to sport to try deflect stress and help our mental health…

🤕 However, up to 10% of athletes experience burnout with a smaller percentage of these suffering extreme symptoms…

😩 In Clinic we are seeing people who dive straight into workouts, working out more and more as an outlet and their body’s just aren’t coping with things too well at the moment…

😣 The Mental fatigue can manifest itself into Physical fatigue, making it even more important to seek supplementary therapies such as Soft Tissue Therapy to alleviate any aches, pains or stresses within the body…

⛔️ Don’t wait for those hamstring or calf niggles, lower back problems, niggles that with a week of rest, still aren’t better when you return to Running, Netball, Hockey and the like….

💆🏼 Sometimes seeking a Sports Massage (which isn’t a painful experience, if done correctly) can just set the body on the right path to allow you to continue making positive changes to your day-to-day life…

❄️ How to Prepare for Running in Winter ❄️

Winter running is where the hard graft is. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, here’s a guide to help you stay on track during the winter months.

1️⃣ Layer Up
Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, then a warm but lightweight training top. Finish with a windproof outer layer to shield yourself from the elements. Your body will generate heat as you run, but please don’t go out in shorts and T-Shirt.

2️⃣ Invest in Proper Footwear
Winter conditions can harsh. Consider wearing trail shoes with a GoreTex waterproof layer to keep your feet dry, warm and comfortable.

3️⃣ Warm Up Well
Dynamic stretches like leg swings, high knees, or simple strides will get the blood flowing. Activation drills indoors are a bonus. All to prevent injury and ready yourself for your run.

4️⃣ Mind the Weather
Avoid running in extreme weather conditions, whether it be cold or windy. If the weather’s really harsh, stay inside or opt for a treadmill workout, spin bike or rowing machine.

5️⃣ Hydrate and Fuel Properly
Make sure to hydrate well with electrolytes! Prevent muscle cramps. Fuelling your body with a light snack before and nutritious post-run recovery meal, to maintain sugar/ energy levels, keep your immune system strong and aid muscle recovery.

6️⃣ Listen to Your Body
Running in winter can be more taxing than running in warmer months. Be sure to listen to your body, if you’re feeling fatigued, it’s okay to cut your run short. Don’t continue through just because your app-based training schedule says so.

7️⃣ Embrace Winter Training
While winter running isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, keeping a consistent training load during these months prove critical for spring/ summer success and injury prevention.

Don’t let winter stop you from hitting your goals; gear up, get outside (or use indoor workouts), but importantly keep active!

📚 Therapy Expo 2025 📚

This is your Christmas warning‼️

That’s the good bit…

A little over 3 weeks ago I mentioned it was 6 weeks to go and now I have 3 weeks (and a bit) of appointments left of this year 🥳

The bad bit…

Availability is looking pretty scarce before I’m back to work 05 January 2026 📖

So if you’re back for the holidays, haven’t booked your session and been meaning to because your feeling broken or need a progress report to check you’re all good…

Get in touch right now, yes don’t wait around because you don’t want to be sad this Christmas with all your aches and pains and I don’t want to be stressed I can’t fit you in 😭

🥶 Frozen Shoulder 🥶

Shoulder pain is the third most common musculoskeletal disorder experienced by the general population and accounts for approximately 16% of all musculoskeletal complaints.

New research has shown that this injury is multi-faceted involving; hormonal, metabolic, vascular and inflammatory dysfunction.

Frozen shoulder has been shown to disproportionately affect women being vulnerable to musculoskeletal pain, especially in peri- and postmenopausal women.

What can you do?
🧠 Screen for Thyroid and metabolic issues
🧪 Screen for Estrogen deficiencies
😴 Establish good sleep health
🍎 Improve lifestyle, diet and stress
💗 Increase cardiovascular health

Sadly, it’s not “just” a joint issue, that’s why manual therapies, massage therapy, injections and exercise programmes alone won’t make a dent!

Take home?

Check out and rule out what’s happening in the whole system and treat the human being not just the “problem joint”.

If you’ve had a ongoing persistent shoulder issue, why not book a consultation to see if you do have a “frozen shoulder” or perhaps, more likely you just haven’t found the right treatment path for you.

07/11/2025

Cupping therapy is a treatment technique used in physiotherapy, sports medicine, and traditional medicine to help relieve muscle tension, improve blood flow, and promote healing.

🔹What Is It?

Cupping involves placing cups (usually made of plastic, silicone, or glass) on the skin to create suction.
This suction gently lifts the skin and underlying tissue, increasing blood flow to the area.

🔹 How It Works?

🌬️ Increased circulation — brings oxygen and nutrients to the muscles
💆 Release of muscle tightness — helps loosen fascia and reduce knots
💧 Lymphatic drainage — helps remove waste products and inflammation

🔹 What It’s Used For?

🤲🏼 Muscle tightness or trigger points
🤲🏼 Back, neck, or shoulder pain
🤲🏼 Hamstring and calf tension
🤲🏼 Sports recovery and mobility work
🤲🏼 Postural stiffness
🤲🏼 Sensory input
