✅ The Assessment Process Part 7 – Retirement from Driving
For many people, driving is an important part of everyday life. As vehicles become more complex and roads busier, it’s natural for driving needs to change over time — and staying safe is always the priority.

A Driving Mobility assessment helps you understand how your health, fitness or confidence may be affecting your driving. In many cases, this may confirm that you are still safe to drive or highlight ways to continue driving safely and comfortably, such as refresher tuition or updated advice.

For some people, an assessment may include advice to retire from driving. This can be a difficult and emotional decision, and there is no set age at which someone must stop driving. Every recommendation is made carefully, based on individual circumstances and with your long-term safety and independence in mind.

💙 If retirement from driving is advised, you will be supported throughout the process.
Your centre team has extensive experience in helping people understand the reasons behind the recommendation, talk through how they feel about it, and plan next steps at a pace that feels right for them. Family members are welcome to be involved in these conversations, as driving decisions often affect those closest to you.

➡️ Driving on public roads is a privilege rather than a right, and thinking ahead about how and when you might eventually stop driving is something all drivers are encouraged to do. Having a plan, just like planning for retirement from work, can make this transition feel more manageable and less uncertain.

👉 To start to think about retirement from driving, take a look at our Driving Retirement Leaflet, to assist you in thinking through the options open to you: https://vist.ly/4iz8i

Vehicle Sales

This page is generally used to advertise the part exchange vehicles that come in against our Mobility Vehicles 4U adapted cars for disabled people. I also dabble in the odd motorhome, campervan and caravan. If you see something you want and wish to visit or make a trade buy or retail purchase offer just call myself or my colleague john Kent on 01227 636800 or 07798862733.

Best not to just turn up as we travel extensively to see disabled clients, but are generally open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, so call us first for an appointment.

This organisation is FCA & Kent Act approved.
