I turned 50… and something unexpected happened.

I didn’t feel like I was losing myself.

I felt like I was meeting myself… in a way I never had before.

There’s a story we’ve been given about this age.

That the body starts to fail.
That hormones turn against us.
That we slowly fade… become less, not more.

And I can feel how deeply that story lives in women’s bodies.

The bracing.
The fear.
The quiet preparing for something to go wrong.

But standing here now…

My body feels more alive than it did in my 30s.
There is more energy here. More presence.
More juice.

My mind is calmer than it has ever been.
Not because life is easier…
but because I am no longer fighting myself within it.

There is a softness in me now…
but it’s not weakness.

It’s a deep, rooted steadiness.

And no…
I haven’t experienced the hormonal chaos
or perimenopausal suffering I was told to expect.

Because over the years… something changed.

I stopped overriding my body.
Stopped pushing through.
Stopped abandoning myself in the name of keeping up.

Through Ayurveda…
through breath, energy work, and deep listening…

I began to understand how to be with my body.

To support it.
To regulate it.
To trust it.

And this is what I see so clearly now:

This phase of life is not a decline.

It is an initiation.

A threshold into wisdom.

But we no longer have the structures that hold women through this.

The elders.
The rites of passage.
The spaces where a woman is seen, honoured, and guided as she crosses over.

So instead…
she moves through it alone.
Or medicated.
Or believing something is wrong with her.

We have lost this generation of women into silence and survival.

And it’s time to change that.

Time to change the story we’ve been told.
Time to walk a different path than the one we’ve been handed.

This August, I’ll be opening a small, intimate rite of passage
for women entering — or already within — their wisdom years.

A space to lay down what you’ve been carrying…
to be witnessed in this transition…
and to consciously step into what this next chapter holds.

Many women arrived last night feeling scattered, ungrounded…
a little disconnected from themselves.

And this is something I see often.

Not because something is wrong —
but because life pulls us out of our bodies so easily.

Through movement, breath, mantra, journaling and deep rest…
something began to soften.

Energy that felt fragmented started to land.

There was a return.

All left lighter.
Happier.
More in themselves.

This is the work.

Not forcing change…

You don’t need more discipline.
You need a different relationship with yourself.

Most women I work with aren’t lacking motivation.

They’re living in constant reaction…
Pushing through exhaustion
Saying yes when they mean no
Trying to keep everything together

And wondering why their body won’t soften.

This is what happens when your nervous system is always “last.”

Through Ayurveda and nervous system work, we shift this gently:
→ regulate the body
→ soften out of survival
→ expand from steadiness

This is where real change begins.

I used to skip my own reset for dinners, errands, or everyone else’s plans… thinking self-care was selfish. The more I postponed, the more my energy felt scattered, my mind restless, and my nervous system off balance.

Now, I do things differently. I book my circle, my treatments, and my resets first. Life flows around them, not the other way around. My guides and mentors are still actively in my life — helping me stay accountable and aligned. Without that support, consistency slips, energy dips, and decisions feel heavy.

Many women I meet don’t have that kind of guidance — which is why skipping self-care becomes the default, and Vata’s restlessness wins. You don’t have to wait for life to “give you time.” Showing up for yourself first is how you truly show up for everyone else.

This month, choose yourself first. Book your reset. Feel the difference it makes in your energy, clarity, and calm. Your nervous system—and your future self—will thank you. 💛

Many mothers today are not exhausted because they are doing something wrong.
They are exhausted because they are living in a way the body was never designed to sustain.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, women hold enormous energetic responsibility in families and communities.

When women become depleted, the whole system around them eventually feels it.
In the yogic and Ayurvedic traditions, women are often described as holding Shakti — the creative life force that nurtures and sustains life.

This isn’t only about motherhood in the physical sense. It’s about the deep capacity many women carry to sense, hold and nourish the wellbeing of those around them.

Women tend to be naturally sensitive — physically, emotionally and energetically. This sensitivity is not a weakness. It is part of what makes women powerful nurturers, creators and guides within families and communities.

But that same sensitivity also means women need deep nourishment and restoration themselves.
Pregnancy and birth strongly activate Vata in the body — the dosha connected to movement, the nervous system and hormonal balance. Traditionally, new mothers would receive daily nourishment and care for many weeks after birth to restore stability and energy.

Modern motherhood often looks very different.
Many women raise children far from extended family.
They return to work early.
They juggle careers, homes, relationships and motherhood.
Often putting themselves last.

Over time this can leave the nervous system depleted and Vata aggravated.

Women may notice things like:
• feeling wired but exhausted
• anxiety or racing thoughts
• difficulty switching off
• feeling scattered or overwhelmed
• a sense of not quite feeling like themselves

In Ayurveda this isn’t seen as weakness. It is simply a sign that the body and nervous system need deeper restoration.

I recognise this from my own life. There was a time when my days were completely full — always doing, always giving — but very little space for meaningful restoration or energy rebalancing.

Learning Ayurveda changed the way I care for my body and nervous system.

Protection isn’t the real issue for most practitioners.

What matters more is the strength of your prana.

If your life force is low or scattered, you may find yourself:

• feeling drained after sessions
• absorbing clients’ emotions
• struggling to stay clear and grounded
• needing constant energetic “protection”

But when prana is strong and flowing, the body, mind and subtle energy field naturally stabilise.

In Ayurveda we strengthen prana by supporting:

• Agni – the digestive fire that processes experience and emotion
• balanced doshas – especially calming Vata
• clear subtle channels (Ida, Pingala, Sushumna)
• satvic nourishment and daily practices

When prana is strong, your energy becomes clear, steady and resilient.

You can hold space for others without depletion.
