The next in our series of animal-themed relaxation techniques for Stress Awareness Month is The Buzzing Bee.
It's great for: Calming a busy, "buzzy" brain or block out loud noises.
How to do it: Sit comfortably and place your hands over your ears (or just use your fingers to gently plug them). Take a big breath in, and as you breathe out, keep your lips closed and make a long "Mmmmmm" humming sound. Feel your head and chest vibrate!
How it works: The humming sound vibrates the vagus nerve, which is like a "calm down" switch for the body. It’s also great because it physically blocks out external noise.
