Podiatry services are a medical appointment and therefore exempt from closure during the covid pandemic.

Please rest assured that we are operating as normal, following all the covid-safe regulations to ensure your appointments go ahead safely. All of our staff have the correct ppe, we have covid screens and air filtration throughout our clinics.

Even shielding patients are able to safely access our services. Please make sure our reception staff are aware of your shielding status so we can ensure we meet your needs correctly.

Following the governments recent announcement on ending covid restrictions on 19th July 2021 please make sure you continue to follow the covid-safe healthcare rules when you attend:

- wear a face covering at all times
- use the hand gel provided (or wash your hands) and ensure you follow the one metre plus rules.
- pay by card (instead of cash)

We will not be allowing patients and visitors to attend an appointment without wearing a face covering as close contact is required as part of your care. Masks are available to purchase in all of our clinics if you forget to bring one.

Our staff will continue to follow Public Health England (PHE) rules on the continued use of PPE, screens and cleaning protocols between patient consultations until such time PHE deem it safe and acceptable for us to relax these rules.

Healthcare rules differ from retail shops guidance and all registered healthcare professionals in England are legally required to follow them for their own safety and the safety of all of our patients.

Sadly, Saks has to close, yet again, so we will need to rearrange your appointments either at St Albans or harpenden branches or as a home visit. Please note we are putting on extra clinics at both Harpenden and St Albans branches so we can accommodate you.

We are now able to offer appointments for all patient categories (red, amber and green) for all conditions (not just emergencies and high-risk).

As part of the easing of lockdown into the "new normal" we have to triage and categorise all patients prior to bookings. Reception staff are all working remotely and have all the systems they need to deal with your needs.

Where feasible and appropriate to do so we are offering remote consultations (telephone and video consultations). When patients attend face-to-face consultations there are strict rules in place to ensure hand washing, distancing and the correct PPE. Please help us to help you by following them.

If you are housebound or shielding we are able to offer you a home visit. Please note: we have all the required PPE to ensure care provided meets the same rules as the NHS - to keep you safe.

We are fully open and would like to reassure all patients that we are stringently following NHS advice regarding the spread of coronavirus (nCovid-19).

We can see all patients safely. We have all the required PPE, HEPA 15 air filtration and all our premises are covid-safe. Full information can be found on our website: www.headandshort.co.uk

Treatment is provided following strict rules and we will be wearing personal protective equipment as appropriate. Please follow these rules carefully - they are to protect both yourselves and our team.

Please do not attend if you have recently visited a high risk area (area 1 on the NHS 111 website - www.111.nhs.uk) or have been in direct contact with someone diagnosed with nCovid-19 - we need to know if this applies to you.

Government advice is to self isolate for seven days if you have a new continuous cough and/or a high fever (>37.8c) and also if your sense of taste or smell has diminished. If a member of your household is showing symptoms of Covid-19 you should ALL self isolate for fourteen days. You should call NHS 111 if your symptoms are worsening but please do not visit your GP or other healthcare environment unless you are told to do so.

All people should be socially distancing themselves, avoid all group gatherings and keep 2 metres from other people when you go out. We would appreciate it you would wear a face covering when you attend an appointment unless you have an exemption to wearing one.

All of our premises have hand washing facilities and hand gel, have HEPA 15 air filtration and are regularly cleaned and monitored. Our staff have all been well-trained and are being kept updated on government advice.
