Gallbladder 21 (GB21) 🌿

Also known as Jian Jing (肩井) which beautifully translates to “Shoulder Well” 💧

📍 Location:
Found at the highest point of the shoulder, midway between the base of the neck and the outer shoulder.

✨ What is it used for?
GB21 is one of the most commonly used acupuncture points for releasing tension and restoring flow in the upper body. It’s especially powerful for:

• Neck & shoulder stiffness
• Stress & emotional tension
• Headaches & migraines
• Improving circulation in the upper body
• Supporting labor (used with caution ⚠️)

💆‍♀️ Why it matters:
This point is like a pressure valve — when life “weighs on your shoulders,” GB21 helps release that built-up tightness, both physically and emotionally.

⚠️ Important note:
GB21 is contraindicated during pregnancy unless used by a trained professional, as it can stimulate downward movement.

🌬️ Energetically:
It helps descend excess energy from the head, ground the body, and promote a sense of release and relaxation.

Take a moment today to gently press or massage this point — your shoulders will thank you 🤍

Things I love about spring…
🌱outdoor meditation in the sunshine
🌱 the feeling of growth everywhere
🌱playing football with Kenny in the garden
🌱 longer days = more serotonin in my brain
🌱 many shades of green
🌱 feeling the permission to start fresh

It’s been a tricky few months for me with a recent diagnosis… not that I ever thought i was invincible but realising my body has other plans for my life trajectory and having to respond to that. I have found out I have an auto-immune… so despite telling myself my chronic fatigue, brain fog, hair loss, weight gain, digestive issues was down to stress turns out it wasn’t…
I’m taking as much time as possible to catch my breath, to work with recovery and decompression and to relearn wha productivity means so I don’t burn out. Sending love instagram family 🙏🫶🖤

Sometimes it feels strange to talk about yoga when the world feels like it’s burning.

Lately I’ve been hearing from many yoga teachers and students who feel conflicted about continuing to teach or practice while so much is unfolding across the world.

Personally, I don’t feel conflicted about teaching yoga right now.
But I have found it difficult to talk about my work when the global landscape feels so unstable.

And yet… practices that help us ground, stabilise and find flow may be more important than ever.

In Taoist philosophy there is a concept called Wu Wei , often translated as non-forced action.

It doesn’t mean doing nothing.

It means not forcing life.

It means creating enough space internally to sense clearly and respond with aligned action, rather than reacting from overwhelm, pressure or willpower.

Another Taoist idea is Ziran - “self-so” - the natural movement that arises when we stop pushing life in the wrong direction.

Sometimes the movement itself becomes the signpost.

So perhaps this is the question many of us are sitting with right now:

How can we become effortlessly responsive to life?

Not frozen.
Not forcing.
But responsive.

Maybe it begins with small things.
A breath. A practice. A moment of steadiness.

Small steps that keep us in relationship with life.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
How are you staying responsive right now?

Growth > Perfection 🌱

For a long time, I thought progress meant flawless ex*****on. No mistakes. No missteps. No visible struggle.

But perfection is a moving target. Growth is movement.

Perfection says: “Wait until it’s flawless.”
Growth says: “Start messy.”

Perfection fears failure.
Growth learns from it.

Perfection keeps you stuck in drafts, doubt, and overthinking.
Growth gets you in the arena — trying, adjusting, becoming.

I’m choosing progress over polish.
Learning over proving.
Courage over control.

Because at the end of the day, becoming is better than being flawless.

Burnout doesn’t start in your calendar. It starts in your cells.

Chronic stress damages the mitochondria — the tiny powerhouses that produce ATP, the energy currency your body relies on for everything: thinking, healing, creating, and simply feeling like yourself.

When mitochondria are compromised, your body shifts into survival mode:
– Metabolism slows
– Fat storage increases (especially around the abdomen)
– Sugar cravings intensify
– Sleep becomes disrupted
– Your brain seeks quick hits of relief and escape

This isn’t a failure of willpower. It’s biology.

But here’s the most important truth: stress itself isn’t the enemy. Lack of recovery is.

Stress + Recovery = Adaptation

It’s not during the stress that you grow. It’s during the recovery.
Recovery is where:
– New mitochondria are created
– New blood vessels form
– Energy is restored
– Resilience is built

The most energised, productive, and resilient people aren’t “always on.” They oscillate. They honour the binary rhythm of life: fully on, then fully off.

Relaxation isn’t a luxury. It’s a skill. And it’s trainable.
When you learn to move intentionally between challenge and recovery, you stop living in the grey zone of constant low-level stress — and start living with clarity, energy, and longevity.

If this speaks to you, I have one final Saturday spot available for my Burnout Recovery Retreat next weekend. You’re very welcome to join us.

Momentum begins with small, right actions. In our yoga practice, just a few simple mobility exercises can spark meaningful change.

Momentum isn’t about forcing transformation — it’s about creating it gently and consciously. Each time you show up, every breath you take, every intentional movement you make, you’re building momentum. Small steps become rhythm. Rhythm becomes transformation.

This March, we’re exploring momentum as our theme for the month, beginning tomorrow. This is your invitation to step forward — to participate in your own unfolding and to be part of the shared momentum we’re cultivating together as a collective.

Flexi-class packs are now available — you can book yours through the link in my bio.

Let’s begin. 🌿

✨ Not one, but TWO scholarships for our 2026 Yoga Teacher Training ✨

This year we’re offering two scholarships, because we know how important real support is within our community — and because access to teacher training hasn’t always been equal.

🌿 Full Scholarship – Supporting BIPOC Representation in Yoga
This full scholarship is for Black and People of Color (BIPOC) who feel called to step into teaching and leadership within yoga.
While yoga has roots in South Asian traditions, many Western yoga spaces still centre whiteness, wealth, and privilege. This scholarship is one small step toward supporting greater representation and uplifting voices that are essential to the future of yoga.

🌿 50% Needs-Based Scholarship
We’re also offering a 50% needs-based scholarship for those who feel deeply called to this training but are held back by finances.
Money barriers are often shaped by bigger systemic factors — caring responsibilities, disability, income inequality, or life circumstances — not by commitment or readiness. If finances are the main thing stopping you, we really encourage you to apply.

✨ How to apply:
Simply get in touch with Imogen

🗓 Key dates:
• Applications close 13th March 2026
• Interviews take place during March
• Successful applicants notified by 31st March 2026

If this training is calling to you and some extra support would make it possible, we’d love to hear from you 💛

Blessings
Imogen 🌿

How do you stay inspired? ✨

I look to the past not to stay there, but to understand the path — how we arrived where we are, what has been learned, what still wants to be remembered. There is wisdom in lineage, in repetition, in what has endured.

I am deeply visual. I need to see to feel, to witness form and texture and light. Images, places, movement — they become portals, reminding me of what words cannot hold.

These pictures were taken from Lee Millar’s exhibition
I was moved to tears today by this woman’s foresight, her courage and her bravery. There are really no words… 😶

✨ Three acupressure points I love working with at this time of year ✨

I find myself coming back to a few simple points that really support energy, nourishment, and reflection.

🤍 Stomach 36 (Zu San Li)
Just below the kneecap, slightly lateral to the shin.
This is a point of endurance — supporting vitality, digestion, and overall energy levels. A beautiful ally for boosting qi and sustaining us when reserves feel low.

🤍 Kidney 27
Either side of the sternum, just below the clavicles.
I think of this as an energetic and emotional reset button. It can help us feel more grounded, settled, and connected to our breath and heart space.

🤍 Spleen 6
About four fingers above the inner ankle, just off the shin.
A deeply nourishing point for yin — the substance, fluids, and quiet strength of the body. Perfect for winter hibernation, introspection, and stillness.

These points aren’t the organs themselves, but places where the meridians flow close to the surface, communicating directly back to the organs.

You can gently tap these areas, hold them softly, or simply pause and bring your awareness there — even visualising them can be enough to invite a subtle shift.

A simple, accessible way to listen in and offer a little support from the outside in ✨

Hello, for those of you who don’t know me very well 🤍
I’m Imogen, and this little corner of Instagram mostly reflects my work as a yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and yoga therapist.

Outside of teaching, I share life with one loving partner, two stepchildren, and one very devoted fur baby who appears here more often than not 🐾

Some things you might not know about me…
I love to paint and come from a family of artists. I write fiction and stories, and the piano is a really important part of my downtime. Creating is what my soul wants to do — and that’s why I love teaching so much. I get to create classes that support people, gently and meaningfully.

I also lived in Burma (Myanmar) for four years, where I founded Safe Space Myanmar — a trauma-informed yoga initiative supporting women to regulate their nervous systems. We worked across women’s centres, internally displaced people’s camps, and safe houses.

One of my students recently wrote the most beautiful, unexpected note about me on Facebook. I shared it here because her words truly bowled me over. Reading them reminded me why I do this work, and it might give you a little more insight into my teaching and where I come from.

If you’re new here, welcome. I’m really glad you’re here ✨
