Here I am presenting my research poster at the Postgraduate Research Conference in June what a great event. Definitely need more food studies next year. The study on grasshopper post exercise protein shakes was facinating, but eww.

Pass me the pea and h**p protein shake please! 💪🏼 🌱

Thanks to the team for putting it all together.

“The findings show just how linked human and planetary health are. Eating healthfully boosts environmental sustainability—which in turn is essential for the health and wellbeing of every person on earth.”

People who adhere to the Planetary Health Diet may substantially lower their risk of premature death and their environmental impact, according to a new Harvard Chan School study.

Aim for 30 minutes a day (minimum of 150 minutes a week) of walking at moderate intensity. In other words, walk at a "oh no, I'm going to be late!" sorta pace. :)

'Walking is the best medicine,' as Prof Shane O’Mara explains to Simon Mundie.

“The more these patients changed their lifestyle in the prescribed ways, the greater was the beneficial impact on their cognition and function.”

▪️Eat plant-based
▪️Exercise 30 minutes a day (walk)
▪️Manage your stress
▪️Surround yourself with good people

Advice I have been spreading for years. Finally the science is there to say it works.

A healthy lifestyle is the best medicine/ protection against disease.

For the first time, a randomized controlled clinical trial has demonstrated that an intensive lifestyle intervention, without drugs, may significantly improve cognition and function in many patients with mild cognitive impairment or early dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease. This multisite clinica...

For our clinical dietetics practical session we hade to modify a chicken roast dinner to a dietary requirement. Our group got level 4 diet - puréed.

Going to be honest this wasn’t a task I was looking forward to, ya know, with having to cook with animal products and all. But, in the end I really enjoyed learning about dysphagia and how to adapt food suitable for swallowing difficulties. Plus, I love spreading and piping (the mash and carrots are mine 😁) so it was nice to get a bit creative.

Other groups had to modify their meals for: heart health, gluten free/ celiac disease, high protein high calorie, and renal. Really interesting and useful session.

Dietetic placement one ✅ what a fantastic few weeks!

I learned so much I feel like my head is going to burst. Got to learn from knowledgeable, kind, funny and welcoming dietitians who gave me so many opportunities and experience to better my practice in nutrition and dietetics.

I stayed in a sweet annex about 20 minute walk from the hospital. Yes it rained most days ☔️ but luckily I have the gear to stay bone dry (pic 2) I had the cutest little kitchen and cooked delicious plant-based meals each evening. Read books. Relaxed. Woke up early. Stretched. Meditated every day. Bliss.

Back to real life tomorrow feeling relaxed, revived and ready for clinical dietetics module and lots of assignments to write. Can’t wait to see my boys, I have missed them so much.

I needed this ❤️ 🧘🏼‍♀️ 👩‍⚕️

What a fantastic first day of dietetic placement! This is the beautiful building the team are placed in and over to the left is a beautifully modern hospital. The team were so welcoming and my brain is bursting with knowledge. Can’t wait for tomorrow where I get to experience paediatrics!

A photo from Research Symposium last month. Me in deep conversation with a representative from . Microbiome and gut health were a reoccurring topic throughout the day. It’s such an interesting area of research with such potential to treat and prevent disease.

The PrecisionBiotics website has a great CPD e-learning section and they fund and support probiotic strain and gut microbiome research too.

I just love a full fruit bowl. It starts this way on Sunday after the weekly shop and is pretty much demolished by the end of the week. Which gives me a real sense of accomplishment as a nutritionist and mother.

The dragon fruit was the first to get broken into… as soon as the boys set eyes on it. My youngest (8yo) has wanted one for ages and finally had them in stock. He has waited weeks and was not disappointed. It is sweet and soft. We chopped it in half then used a melon baller to scoop out the inside.

Also in the fruit bowl: apples, bananas, kiwi, grapefruit, passion fruit, and oranges 😋
